@RyanMath6284 Same here. Got an email back in February complaining that I only had 4 grades in the gradebook. I don’t grade homework, just assessments, which can be corrected or retaken. The “how do I know you’re even doing anything in class” part really triggered me.

@gimkit Students loved the mode! They thought freeze tag would be a cool variant to add in later. 3 or so people are “it” and answer questions to get energy. The people who get tagged are frozen until they answer 5 questions in a row. Game ends when everyone is frozen or time runs out.

@gimkit Ss are loving Fishtopia! I do have a request though. Can you add the option of increasing the bait per question? I teach HS math and the time it took to answer each question on my Systems Gimkit really slowed down the game with only 1 bait per right answer. Thanks!

We found out the 2022 challenge is possible with numbers 1-22. 13, 14, 15, and 17 were challenging but the Ss stuck with it and figured them all out today. I was extremely impressed with the S who found 14’s expression. #mtbos #iteachmath

Hey #mtbos does anyone know an “easier” way to make practice pages like this? It only took me 10 minutes to get the problems and the key done, but then 40 minutes to put the letters to the key and the puzzle. And my brain hurts now 😆. Thanks in advance! #iteachmath

This curriculum scored extremely high on EdReports so I had high hopes, but I definitely should have done more digging this summer. I'm supplementing so many lessons with prompts from @IllustrateMath that I should just switch back at this point.

I would like to add another source of burnout to my list: textbook publishers. Why do they insist on making "real world examples" out of concepts that don't need it? No wonder students think they hate math. #mtbos #iteachmath #Maths #teaching #edutwitter

I'm obviously skipping these examples, but I adopted the 9-12 textbooks that align with our K-8 this year for a smooth transition, and to take the load off of creating my own materials for each course. Instead I find myself throwing out and supplementing their terrible examples.

@druinok I just say, “find perfect square factors”. So we’ll factor things like sq.root(48) into sq.root(16) sq.root(3) then simplify the roots we can. It makes it really easy to move on to cube roots too. Usually students can discover we need to find perfect cube factors.

@cmcelraft @teachzaccari @Schoology The funny part is, free accounts can't even access to page to upgrade. I would have tried to pay for an Enterprise subscription but now I'm just going to start switching to #GoogleClassroom. So you can't even compliment them for a good marketing strategy. @Schoology is a joke.

@dynamic_math @iteachmathAll @gogeometry @geogebra My first attempt was to show the two triangles are similar, making the angles congruent, but I haven’t gotten there yet.

@sofieappel In addition to many of the strategies already suggested, I’ll sometimes have a list of examples and non examples and let them come up with a conjectures one example at a time. After some revisions, students use their conjecture so solve a few problems (if applicable).
