Artificial Analysis numbers are in! GPT-6.1 Sol is performing at around Opus 5.5 Medium levels for under a third the price.
Not bad at all, but still more hyped for 6.1 Astra to catch them up 👀
Nope. It's still true.
Where is your domestic robot?
Where is your Level-5 self-driving car?
Where is your robot car that can learn to drive in a few hours of practice like any 17 year old?
Where is your AI system that can understand the real world and quickly learn new skills like a house cat?
There is no question that AI will eventually become as intelligent as humans in all domains.
*** BUT ***
1. We're still far from that, even if AI and computer technology surpasses humans in an ever-increasing number of tasks.
2. It won't be based on LLMs, although LLMs will have a role to play (e.g. as a text interface).
The FDA just approved one of these drugs (apitegromab).
That means the first FDA-approved myostatin inhibitor is here!
We may soon enter a new era of muscularity, without the need for steroids!
Can you actually buy the ability to lock in for 12 hours?
Modafinil might be the closest thing we have to a real “Limitless pill”—but the science is a lot stranger than the hype.
We dug into the human trials, dopamine, sleep deprivation, Modafinil vs. Adderall, side effects, and why this drug becomes a completely different animal when you’re running on empty.
The “smart drug” that actually works? Full breakdown 👇
It is concerning how enggs are losing their grip on their systems. Not just on the low-level code, but on the end-to-end flow of their systems as well.
I think there are two reasons for this:
1. Everything is in a hurry now. We are constantly optimizing for faster delivery, so there is less time to understand how things actually work.
2. We are moving towards higher-order abstractions. What could have been 5 well-documented steps explaining how things work is now abstracted away into poorly maintained skill files.
Btw, abstractions do not eliminate complexity. They just move it somewhere else.
So when a rare and complex issue shows up, it takes relatively longer to understand, diagnose, and fix the problem.
The happy path got faster. Yay! But failure path got longer. And that is a tradeoff we are not talking about enough.
GPT-6 Astra is here.
We hope it will begin to enable a new generation of entrepreneurship, scientific discovery, and building.
We believe it is the best model in the world for computer use, professional work, science, coding, cybersecurity, and more.
It took us some extra time to ensure that we could meet the safety and alignment standards required for this capability level, but we think you’ll find it worth the wait.
It scores 98% on FrontierMath Tier 4, 99.9% on ARC-AGI 3, and 100% on ExploitBench.
I hereby declare the "learn to code" era officially dead:
Big declines in the number of people studying computer science in the last year or two 📉

If you take a GLP-1 drug (Ozempic) late in life does it extend lifespan, slow aging, and improve physiologic function?
Yes, if you're a female mouse

Everybody thinks they're a pro coder as long as long as they're building a personal project which only their friends and family use.
Companies don't pay crores to staff and principle engineers for nothing. You will only realise this once your decisions have real consequences.
“I have high LDL and haven’t had a heart attack, therefore high LDL doesn’t matter” fundamentally misunderstands the stochastic nature of biology.
Risk factors change the probability of an outcome; they do not guarantee that the outcome will occur. The absence of an event in one individual does not tell us whether an exposure meaningfully changes risk across a population.
Most compelling for me is the story behind PCSK9 inhibitors. 1 in 50 African Americans have a malfunctioning gene that results in them having very low cholesterol. When researchers looked at these populations carrying just one copy of this "loss-of-function" PCSK9 mutation, they found that while their LDL cholesterol was moderately lower (about 28% to 40% below average), their risk of developing coronary heart disease dropped by 88%.
Researchers then found a 32-year-old woman who inherited two mutated genes had an LDL cholesterol level of just 14 mg/dL. She underwent extensive cardiovascular testing. Doctors found that her arteries were completely clear. She had zero detectable plaque buildup, absolutely no signs of heart disease, and perfectly normal heart function.
These PCSK9 inhibited individuals were found to have normal liver function, normal hormone levels, normal cognitive function, and normal lifespans. Their bodies simply adapted to function perfectly with a fraction of the LDL cholesterol that a typical human carries.
A new class of drugs was approved for lowering cholesterol.

This is a lie. People go on Rogan and just say things that are not true, and they get away with it.
In TriNetX, adding all sudden/acute vision loss, the incidence for ages 45-54 in 2016 vs. 2023 is down 1.5%; for 55-64, up 0.9%; for ≥65, up 10.7% (-0.1% age-controlled).
