Today in Ghotki, I felt great pride and happiness to see my dream start to turn into reality. Only last year families across Pakistan were devastated by historic floods. Families had lost everything, crops and houses destroyed. Swaths of our population were thrown into poverty over night. Everywhere I went women begged me to rebuild their homes. My promise to them then was that not only would we rebuild but we would leave them financially better off than they were before.

Here’s how we achieve that:

#ApniZameenApnaMakkan initiative:
- we have opened bank accounts in the name of the woman of the house hold. Where they receive stipends to rebuild their home.
- we work with families to rebuild flood resistant ‘pakka’ homes where their old homes once stood.
- that’s not all, we are also transferring land title to the woman of the house hold. Families who could never dream of owning their own land now do!
We are not only building climate resilient housing, we are also combating poverty, empowering woman & with the single largest asset transfer in a generation we are implementing land reform as well.

2 million houses will be re built. 2 million families will benefit. I wish we could implant this all across Pakistan.
