Lou Holtz hails from the cradle of football civilization that is the land between eastern Ohio/Ohio Valley & Western Pennsylvania/Steel Valley that includes Joe Montana, Joe Namath, Mike Ditka, Tony Dorsett, Dan Marino, Curt Cignetti, Terry Hanratty, Johnny Unitas, Jim Kelly and scores more who almost all have deep faith as well as athletic superpowers either as coaches or players. Holtz hails from "the pottery capital of the world" East Liverpool Ohio; he played for the local high school football team, the Potters, and went on to achieve greatness as a coach.
Holtz, who has reportedly entered into hospice care at the age of 89, is beloved both off and on the field; sending prayers to the Holtz family and thankfulness to Lou who I've had the honor of meeting several times for the inspiration he has been.
