If only journalists knew how much PR folks protect them from clients/executives & their (not-so newsworthy) whims. Keeping them at bay is like 35% of our job! Think your inbox is jammed with irrelevant stuff now? Imagine if we didn't control pitch frequency, content & context.
So much to talk about in @atomico's latest State of European Tech Report - but this, this is good news 🌟

@dvori_ak Most of the time, it won't make it into the final published article.
You may be better off cutting it yourself, especially if it's just filler made to make someone feel good.
An exception might be a VC/angel who is well-known in their own right.
@dvori_ak It gets worse if more than one investors want to join in. This dilutes the press release even more.
Sure, investors need to impress LPs and promote themselves as well.
But that's not helping their portfolio companies.
@dvori_ak In most cases, investor quotes are formulaic and add zero value.
"Excited to invest in a great team, unique product..."
The only relevant quote is one that supports the key messages of the company. However, very few investors ask "how can we frame our quote to help you?".
A reminder: the world doesn't care about your new product.
It cares about its value to them.
And value is personal.
So know your audience and ask yourself, "why should they care?".
