"Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine" vs "the war in the Middle East," we are achieving levels of liberal contradiction heretofore unknown to man
Can the United States commit an atrocity so blatantly, so unilaterally, that the Western press will not try to blame China for it?
The answer may not surprise you.
Roald Dahl, 1983, about Beirut under Israeli bombs:
"One finds it almost impossible to believe that a civilised people could perform such acts of fiendish barbarism upon women and children and patients in hospitals... The Israelis pinpointed and hit no less than thirteen out of the seventeen hospitals in Beirut, one of them a mental hospital and many of the others full of children."
One of the darkest days in Lebanon’s recent history! 100 Israeli strikes in 10 minutes across different regions.
More than 250 have been killed and 1,200 wounded, with the toll expected to rise as civilians remain trapped under the rubble.
My heart is aching. I’m still in shock.
Norman Finkelstein cevap veriyor:
Rahmetli babam Auschwitz'deydi. Rahmetli annem Majdanek toplama kampındaydı. Ailemin her iki taraftan da tüm üyeleri katledildi.
So God loves only American troops? Not innocent people who lost their lives in Iran? Where was God's "miraculous protection" for them? This is the inevitable result of believing that God is on "our side." It's making a false god in our image: a god who despises Iranians.
Every single problem with Zionism was already identified, often by other Jews, long before Zionism ever took off.
The core always comes back to “Building a Jewish state in a majority non-Jewish area is immoral and stupid”
Even this long list excludes many other US-backed regime-change operations.
Just off the top of my head, I can think of many US-backed coup attempts that are not mentioned:
- Ecuador (2010, failed)
- Paraguay (2012, succeeded)
- Venezuela (2014, 2017, 2019, failed)
- Ukraine (2014, succeeded)
- Brazil (2016, 2018, succeeded)
- Nicaragua (2018, failed)
- Cuba (2021, failed)
- Pakistan (2022, succeeded)
- Peru (2022, succeeded)
- Honduras (2025, succeeded)
The list goes on and on, and on and on, and on and on and on.
Tired of people being perpetually shocked that we’re people, and that they can only understand that we’re people if we’re presented within a certain aesthetic.
Israel is implementing the “Gaza model” in south #Lebanon.
Villages, some centuries old, are being razed to the ground.
This IDF video shows demolitions in several villages, as experts call displacement and mass destruction of civilian infrastructure “ethnic cleansing”.
One of the most vile and absurd things that has ever occurred in human history. You would have thought that the cost (literally millions of corpses) and the outcome (a resounding US defeat) would have reduction ad absurdum’ed wars form the sky but no.
You said Hồ Chí Minh "chose war."
Let me reconstruct the timeline so we're working from actual events rather than impressions.
1858: France begins military conquest of Vietnam.
1887: France formally establishes French Indochina.
1945: Hồ Chí Minh declares Vietnamese independence after Japanese occupation ends.
1945: France announces its intention to recolonize Vietnam.
1946: Hồ Chí Minh negotiates in Paris. Signs preliminary agreements.
1946: France shells Haiphong. Kills six thousand civilians. Occupies Hanoi.
1954: Vietnam defeats France at Điện Biên Phủ. Geneva Accords mandate national elections.
1956: United States prevents the elections because Hồ Chí Minh would win 80 percent.
1965: United States begins massive military escalation.
1975: Vietnam wins.
At which moment in that sequence did Hồ Chí Minh "choose war" in the sense that implies a peaceful alternative was available and he rejected it?
The French chose war in 1946 when they shelled Haiphong.
The Americans chose war in 1956 when they cancelled the election.
The Americans chose war again in 1964 with the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. The attack that justified it was fabricated. They knew. They escalated anyway.
Hồ Chí Minh responded to wars that were brought to his country.
For over a century, from 1858 to the end of the American war in 1975, Vietnam was a country being fought over by foreign powers.
The question is not why Hồ Chí Minh chose war.
The question is why you describe as a choice something that was, for the Vietnamese people, simply the condition of existence under colonialism.
U.S. sanctions since 1979 have blocked medicines to Iran. So Iran developed its own pharmaceutical research and manufacturing to take care of the Iranian people. Now the U.S. and Israel are bombing Iran's medical research facilities and pharmaceutical factories. Pure evil.
