@Mr_P_Hillips @AnnisbrownJ (2/2) your school bottoming out what the essential PV knowledge is. Setting would only mean, for some kids, they would potentially never ever move on from place value? Embed the missing knowledge in future topics to give them a chance to practice over and over.

@Mr_P_Hillips @AnnisbrownJ Yeah I’d move on. But then know the 40% that will inevitably need more support in the future topics and ensure it’s properly scaffolded for them through cuisenaire rods for example. Retrieval practice would also need looking at for this group. Ultimately I suppose it’s down to..

@TickTockMaths Great! Are you going to be explicit with a what do you notice and explain why question? I’m sure you’ve thought of it but this - deliberately I imagine - lends itself very well to it! Pupils could then also generate their own linked row?

@hartmaths I have a big one on the front WB and unpick vocab as assessment for learning. Great for things like “prime”/“prism” and allows you to delve into what students know. Rarely recorded unless I think it would be beneficial to look back at at a later date as it’s on the WB in lesson

@MrYoungPrimary @MrTs_NQTs As lovely as it looks, and as much as there is a need to track it, I feel like this should really be in your planner. We know SLT track ‘teaching ability’ for example, but not on the wall in the staff room. I think this display replacing names with texts is a great idea though!
