This week, we've:
Baked white bread and shortbread
Coded computer games
Written battle speeches
Performed poetry
Danced to Elton John
It's been brilliant. But...
...is it half term yet?
Fancy an Edutwitter Community giveaway? The awesome guys at @BluecowE have kindly donated a Brewdog Advent Calender (itβs never too early!) for one lucky Edutwitter community member! To enter, drop them a follow, like and repost! Winner will be drawn at random on Sunday!
@adamboxer1 I am a convert to doing all my modelling in my Y5 class in an exercise book under the visualiser. Also perfect for showing kids what their work should look like and, hey presto, 3 weeks in, most children write next to the margin (amongst many other nice things too).
We finished Wildsmith yesterday as our class reader which went down a storm and got lots of them into similar stories which have flown off the shelves - plenty of @vashti_hardy as well as @Lillustrator among others.
We're off to The Land of Roar next!
We're hooked on poetry at the moment. Our "Love of Books" time today was dominated by children wanting to read poems from @joshuaseigal@MichaelRosenYes among others (as well as sharing their own they'd written).
Poetry is dynamite.
Still do this now. The note cards are *so* effective for building a positive classroom culture (and those who get them can choose if they take a cushion to put on their chair for the day too!)
Things I do:
I put 3/4 little note cards out in different children's places every morning to tell them something I liked that they did the previous day.
Make 1/2 "your child is brilliant because..." phone calls a week to a parent.
Trying to build a positive culture.
7 days until The Fluency Factory is officially launched! π To celebrate weβre giving away 10 books over 10 days. ππ Just RT to win!
BOOK #3 -Planet Omar: Accidental Trouble Magnet
