Fifteen years ago today, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial opened to the public on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
I am grateful that people from around the world can encounter Daddy’s legacy in this sacred space. But honoring him must extend beyond monuments. His work calls us to confront injustice, practice nonviolence, protect human dignity, and continue creating the Beloved Community.
May we not only visit the memorial. May we live the mission.

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis joins @ULSTL the City of Dellwood and our entire region in mourning the passing of Mayor Reggie Jones, a dedicated public servant, passionate community advocate, and trusted partner in our efforts to strengthen North St. Louis County. He was also a dear friend and true partner in helping make North City and County better personally and professionally.
Mayor Jones loved Dellwood and devoted himself to improving the lives of its residents. He was an excellent Mayor! Through some of our region’s most challenging moments, he remained committed to rebuilding, restoring hope, and creating greater opportunities for the families and businesses he served.
I had the privilege of working alongside Mayor Jones on several important initiatives throughout the Ferguson–Dellwood corridor, including the Urban League Senior Living Center, which opened in 2024 and provides 44 quality housing units for seniors, and Urban League Plaza, now under construction along West Florissant Avenue. These projects reflect a vision Mayor Jones and I shared: that Dellwood, Ferguson and North County deserve meaningful investment, quality housing and continued progress. The seniors LOVED him as he made regular visits to our building.
Mayor Jones understood that rebuilding a community requires more than new buildings. It requires leadership, partnership, and an unwavering belief in the people who call that community home. He brought that belief to everything he did, whether advocating for seniors, supporting young people, or working to ensure Dellwood continued to move forward.
His legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the progress he championed, and the community he served with such pride and dedication.
On behalf of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, I extend our deepest condolences and prayers to Mayor Jones’s family, friends, and colleagues, as well as to the entire City of Dellwood. #ReggieJones #MayorReggieJones #Dellwood #ULSTL #UrbanLeague
Our children are watching what we normalize, what we challenge, and what we are willing to change.
Being a change agent means helping create the conditions for them to grow with dignity, opportunity, safety, and hope. The Beloved Community must be built with their future in mind.

He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
