Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), in association with BigOHealth, organised a conference on “Advancements in Cancer Diagnosis & Treatment” at the Tagore Chamber, SCOPE Complex, New Delhi. The event brought together leading oncologists, clinicians, and researchers to deliberate on the critical gaps and transformative opportunities in India’s cancer care ecosystem.
The conference opened with welcome remarks by Dr. Jitendra Kumar, MD, BIRAC, who highlighted BIRAC’s efforts to nurture healthcare innovations that strengthen India’s public health system. He emphasized how BIRAC’s programs support startups and researchers in making medical technologies more accessible and affordable, and the need for partnerships between innovators, clinicians, and industry to translate research into patient-centric solutions.
The first panel, moderated by Dr. Swarupa Mitra, focused on early cancer diagnosis, with experts from RGCIRC, AIIMS, UCMS, DSCI, and Fortis discussing barriers such as low awareness, limited primary care training, and stigma around testing. The second panel, led by Dr. Dhiraj Kumar, Chief Manager–Technical, BIRAC, explored innovations in cancer care, where speakers from Fortis, AIIMS, PGI Rohtak, and Marengo Asia highlighted how precision medicine, indigenous technologies, and integrated care models are improving outcomes and patient experience.
Dr. Arun Kumar Rathi, Director Professor at Maulana Azad Medical College, highlighted how innovations in radiation oncology are enabling more precise and effective cancer therapies with fewer side effects and better patient outcomes
CA Nidhi graced the occasion and felicitated the distinguished speakers and panelists in recognition of their valuable contributions.
The conference concluded with a collective call to strengthen partnerships between research institutions, startups, and healthcare providers reflecting BIRAC’s vision to bridge science, innovation, and societal impact.
