Scientists at BRIC-NIAB, Hyderabad have decoded how Toxoplasma gondii — a parasite affecting millions worldwide — controls the stability of its mRNA through a key enzyme called RNA triphosphatase (TgCet).

The Functional Genomics Laboratory at @THSTIFaridabad has successfully decoded the whole genome sequence of Phocaeicola vulgatus, isolated from the faecal sample of a healthy Indian adult. This SCFA-producing gut anaerobe exhibits both commensal and opportunistic pathogenic traits, primarily utilizing the PFOR-II pathwayand supporting SCFA metabolism, making it a promising target for metabolic and inflammatory disease interventions.
