@ThrillaRilla369 By coincidence all four of my grandparents were born in 1897. Only recently came to appreciate how different their lives were to mine.
@deb_111@JamesMelville Teletext? Seriously? Not in the UK. May I remind you all talking about the 90s and 2000. Over 25 years ago. Time to get with the program.
@angelsforlove@JamesMelville I only know a few 90 year olds. The physical characterisation for those is wrong. Does anybody remember multiple logins and passwords? Aren’t there apps for that?
@JayelSmithers@JamesMelville I’m pleased to say they did. It wasn’t Delta’s problem. We were booked on a codeshare and the glitch was at Virgins end. We are now enjoying our time in California.
@ThomsAdrian@JamesMelville In the UK we had many TV shows such as Tomorrow’s World showing just how the future might be along with corporate slogans such as The Paperless Office. The awful state of today’s bureaucracy is distinct from underlying technology.
@ScannerTanner@JamesMelville In your 90s now you had opportunities when in your 80s, 70s, 60s and so on. Here in the UK there have been many publicly funded training events.
@phlweb@tomhfh There used to be a bank that opened relatively late on Saturdays and allowed you to pay in cash. National Girobank and it operated through Post Offices.
@SimonFoxWriter Easier option. Cancel the next General Election and the following. By which time the public will be so brow beaten they will stop caring. Or have gone to Australia.
