@Brockster310 He made the man bun b4 it became a thing! Lol. A man ahead of his time! We had no choice but go the opposite direction and it paid off.
Now we got what...straight laced nice hair. We need the flair, the personality!
@SkylarSkye3 Georgia is the biggest state east of the Mississippi. But Alaska is the biggest, then you got Texas and Cali. And a lot of states out west .
@alexjmingolla Yes, a larger pool is always good, and we may get 1 elite out of them. But the larger issue is that our development infrastructure is lacking. If Haaland or Messi grew up here, in our structure, I dont believe they develop to what they are.
@TheStrategicGC@fadule_ Its blinded American Exceptionalism. Usually by those who never played their chosen sport at a high level.
Let's face it, aside from hockey, soccer is a higher skill level sport than the rest. The
elites just make it look easy, so they think it's transferable.
@R_Gutierrez24 I do agree though. My son's team is one of the few Ive seen use their GK as an outlet to build from.
I blame the club's. "Play out the back" is just a phrase but that's usually the GK kicking it away. They don't develop GKs to be comfortable with the ball at their feet.
@R_Gutierrez24 My son is a U16 GK. Trains throughout the year with a private field coach. Chosen by his team coach bc he hasn't had a GK he could rely on with the ball at their feet.
So there are some. But it's not pushed so GKs need to want to develop it on their own.
@geoffschwartz Its a tired argument:
1) False premise that being good in 1 sport will translate to another.
2)Dn realize that our youth development is broken
3)American Exceptionalism means we don't realize just how good the other teams are.
@Challllss@savanah2j We could also say that even if "our best" played soccer that they wouldn't have the skill. That's bc we dont have the youth development infrastructure.
That system is broke and we are limited to being good, and maybe very good, but not elite in the world stage.
@ShehanJeyarajah And the pay for play system is terrible, and the top clubs are built to win tournaments, not develop. And our college season is too short and intense. Hopefully the D1 season change will help some.
@SpangledBallers Freese made an error, that's the position. Nobody is talking about the amazing save early on, they will talk about an error.
Both Richards & Ream had an awful game.
@schadjoe This argument fails to understand 2 things:
1)US lacks a proper soccer development infrastructure.
2) Underestimates just how good these other countries are bc we are blinded by our own American Exceptionalism views.
@JoePatrick I put on Lasso bc all the online negativity was making me feel even worse.
But TBH, my body was prepared for it bc I am ATLUTD and Falcons fan.
@mlycan12 100%!
Americans that rooted against the USMT can't seperate political beliefs from sport. I think they were already not supporting the boys, or weren't watching anyway. This just gave them reason to open their mouths and complain even more.
@atlbell929@USMNT Im tired of this argument bc it fails to understand 2 things:
1)US lacks a proper soccer development infrastructure.
2) Underestimates just how good these other countries are bc we are blinded by our own American Exceptionalism views.
@MarkJLittlewood Trump is an idiot, but I doubt he impacted the decision. There's no way to prove one way or another. So at this point it's just "we don't like Trump or FIFAs ruling".
I don't think it was right to overturn. But they did so the team will play to win. As all teams would.
@MarkJLittlewood US Soccer is a private entity and not part of or supported by the US govt.
So maybe the country is barred from hosting the next 2 or 3 cycles. But FIFA has allowed Balogun to play. So punishing an organization that had no part of it but circumstance is ridiculous.
