Tory Deputy Chair Lee Anderson told food bank users to learn to make meals for 30p.
Now Environment Secretary Therese Coffey says they should simply “get a higher income” or “work more hours”.
This government is utterly out of touch with working class people.
@MythoFobe@ChronicUTIAus E.g. plates with only coagulase negative staph or lactobacillus only? These were only a handful of plates in mixed growth. Sometimes the 2 above organisms were also mixed with enterococci.
Spent day in the lab on urine bench to try and address the ambiguous area of our 'mixed growth no predominant' reports in urine samples - loved being back in there and chromagenic agar just makes microbiology so much nicer! #clinicalscientist#laboratorymedicine#microbiology
@MythoFobe@ChronicUTIAus Main issues I identified was around some plates that were BMS dependent and ambiguous as sometimes called Mixed growth no predominant and other times called predominant growth of xxx and that organism followed up. This was v v few cases from the days I reviewed it though.
@MythoFobe@ChronicUTIAus The other was heavy growth of 2+ urinary pathogens (possibly with some CoNS or enterococci too) usually coliforms, Ecoli + colif, or colif/E.coli + Pseud or proteus but where it was equal growth of both orgs and truly mixed to the point of being difficult to purity plate (2/3)
@MythoFobe@ChronicUTIAus Found there were two main groups that the mixed growth fell into- small amount of mixed growth often with E.coli, Enterococcus and skin flora (sometimes lactobacillus too). A lot of the ones with 10^3 or 10^4 which were often pregnant women or GP urine elderly females (1/3)
It’s all good and well chucking money at this, creating beds and expanding virtual wards, Mr Sunak but you’ve still got the same amount of staff, and we’re all knackered. Perhaps try fair pay and a logical plan for the cavernous gaps in our workforce. https://t.co/0WodgpbttH
For a @10DowningStreet spokesman to deny the NHS is in crisis today is objectively bullshit of the worst kind. You can argue about funding and policy but let's not start dismissing people's actual avoidable deaths and horrible experiences waiting for care.
For those who don't fully understand what is up with the NHS, here is a thread for you that might help.
I'm a consultant physician working as a doctor in the NHS in Yorkshire and Wales for 32 years now. I have experienced the NHS at its best (2008) and its worst (2022).
