@TravisBOUND It’s too simple to say club VB is the problem. It’s the timing of the club VB season. It interferes with the school BB season, and those two sports should share athletes! Girls who play club BB can still play school VB, and the same should be true the other way.
They won't call it a ban. Yet not only has my book been moved, but now elementary schoolers must request a copy from a specialist at its new site AND then also PROVE their reading level before seeing a copy. All these hurdles for a young reader just to access a poem in history written for them. @MDCPS , history is not ours to hoard from children. History has always been theirs to make. And the more they're empowered to know our yesterdays, the more prepared they will be to lead us into tomorrow.
"It is not fine for you to make a decision for everyone eles's child," says @jodipicoult to @andersoncooper regarding book banning. 20 of her books were recently banned from a FL school district.

While there will be an all-female officiating crew for one of the girls basketball state tournament games, just five of the 45 officials assigned to the girls hoops tourney's 15 games are female.
We need more females in officiating so this number can increase!

It’s not hard to see that a whole lot of people who currently care about what kids read don’t appear to read much themselves. They don’t seem to understand what books do. Books provoke, heal, inspire, and educate! The power and joy of books are well-known to readers! #readingjoy
Regarding all the book banning:
"You know how vampires have no reflections in the mirror? If you want to make a human being a monster, deny them, at the cultural level, any reflection of themselves." ~ Junot Diaz, 2009
Someone please remind me again exactly how many state and national lawmakers hold degrees in the field of education? I'm struggling to grasp why we should take their advice/input on how and what we teach. Also, how many of these 850 books has Matt Krause read??
Texas Republican lawmaker draws up list of 850 books on subjects ranging from racism to sexuality that could “make students feel discomfort,” and demands that school districts across the state report whether any are in their classrooms or libraries. https://t.co/FbGLWbjgVD
I'm so glad the WI state assembly is getting to work passing bills that require teaching cursive in school and making sure we don't use the words "intersection," "patriarchy," or "woke." Such a better use of their time than worrying about silly things like hunger or healthcare.
Guys. It is 5pm on a Friday afternoon and my 11yr old daughter is in a Google Meet collaborating with a classmate on persuasive essays they are writing about gun violence. #thesekidsarealright#whatlearningloss#21stcenturyskills
