It has been a busy couple weeks and an exciting start up. We worked hard last week building classroom community and getting used to grade 2. I'm loving our co-constructed classroom expectations. It's going to be a great year at SFS! #spslearn
This week we read What's My Superpower and really spent time digging in. We read it every day and thought about what our superpowers would be. We drew ourselves as superheros and will now be writing about what we would do with our superpowers. Stories to come. #spslearn
Working on fluency and using punctuation by reading our photo study sentences and switching out the periods for exclamation marks and question marks. #spslearn
Using the wordless picture book Chalk we are creating our own stories about magic chalk. First we read it and then made our own chalk creations. Next we drew our creations on paper. Then we will create our stories. Stay tuned for our stories later this week! #spslearn
Had an awesome afternoon at The Forestry Farm learning all carnivores. We got to explore some of the zoo and see some animals up close and personal. #spslearn
Did some planting today! A whole tray of wildflowers, a bean seed for each student and some surprises for us to observe. We can't wait to see how they grow!! #spslearn
We are learning about the environment, stewardship and how we can 'be the change'. All important parts of being an engaged citizen. How can you 'be the change'? @ConcentusCEF#spslearn
See-think-wonder activity to share thinking about our needs and wants and how they can be different from others. We will be reading Those Shoes to help support this citizenship learning. #spslearn@ConcentusCEF
Tried a code breaker challenge today. We were challenged by each clue and worked hard but didn't give up. We practiced team work and had so much fun! I just loved how each team worked so well together!#spslearn
Working on storytelling and story elements today. We read a story, played with story stones, created our own class story and drew the story. Students took their pictures home with the job to tell our story to at least 1 person tonight. Did you hear our story? #spslearn
Building using recyclable materials started today. We are exploring what materials are best to build the objects we have planned for. Stay tuned for the finished products! #objectsandmaterials#spslearn
It has been a very busy week getting settled back in. We have dove back in to our routines in math and literacy and my heart is so full reflecting on how much these little people have grown this year. #spslearn#thisiswhyiteach
This week we are practicing procedural writing. We wrote: How to build a snowman...and now we are on to other 'how to' challenges. We use our writing continuum to self asses and look for our strengths and areas to improve. #spslearn
