Canada is right to keep American liquor off its shelves as a principled stand against a deeply disrespectful once trusted trading partner.

While Canadian trade representatives have repeatedly traveled to Washington out of genuine goodwill—acting with traditional Canadian politeness and a sincere desire to negotiate—their efforts have been met with absolute disregard.

The relationship has devolved into insults, with the U.S. treating Canada less like a trusted ally and more like foe.

Instead of engaging in REAL substance or offering fair counter-proposals, the U.S. relies on heavy-handed leverage—using administrative permits to stall the Gordie Howe International Bridge and imposing aggressive 50 per cent tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum.

Even when Canada engages in trade disputes with nations like China, the interactions maintain diplomatic decorum; talks continue WITHOUT the toxic rhetoric.

Then, the U.S. Ambassador ACTUALLY leverages an Independence Day celebration to issue political ultimatums about bourbon while demanding Canada fulfill a $28-billion F-35 fighter jet order...LOL.

Why??

Why should Canada capitulate to Washington’s demands when our sovereignty is treated with such contempt?

The majority of Canadians feel that until the U.S. offers a profound apology and treats the nation north of its border with baseline dignity, American alcohol should stay barred.

Why should a strong, independent Canada compromise its economic dignity for a country whose unprovoked hostility has inflicted damage that a simple explanation can no longer repair?

I say NO to American alcohol, and YES to an independent and glorious sovereign Canada.
