"Great teachers focus not on compliance, but on connections and relationships."-PJ Caposey. True. So important. Everything in your classroom hinges on this. #CATCA2022#edchat#teachertwitter
#CATCA2022 Session #1: Staying Sane - Principles for Survival in the Classroom :) Starting off with a bang. Anyone else in this session? #edchat#teachertwitter
Good morning #twitterverse! I'm grateful to be teaching in person these days. Masks/restrictions/everything aside, I'm just glad that I get to be in the same room with my students. I don't take it for granted - I know not everyone gets the same luxury! #edchat#teachertwitter
Christmas concert day for our band program! First 'real' concert since the pandemic started. Going to be live-streamed. I'm looking forward to it! Students need these opportunities to perform and show off their hard work. #bandteacher#edchat#classroommusic
Observing my mentee teacher during her teaching day today. Such great PF happens when watching colleagues teach. This should be a regular part of the year for every teacher. #teacherpd#edchat
Jersey day at school, so of course I'm rocking my #Leafs jersey! The hate is real, being surrounded by Oilers and Flames jerseys :) Stay strong out there, #leafsnation. #LeafsForever
Learning an instrument helped me realise what I really could achieve. It helped me realise the person I could be. It helped me realise the true meaning of friendship. It helped me open my eyes to possibility. And, it continues to highlight the importance of a holistic education.
@colette_music Personally, just finishing The Long Walk by King (Bachman). Professionally, Talent is Overrated (can't remember the author). Thoroughly enjoying both!
Every day I get more glimpses into home lives of students, and it breaks my heart a little more. Occasionally I catch myself getting caught up in the wrong decisions at school, and I have to check in to remember there's so much more going on at home. #edchat#BeKind21
Here’s the call for today: just notice.
Notice what’s missing for you. Notice what your community needs. Often those of us who are running on empty have nothing left to even notice that we need to breath, simply drop our shoulders, reach for a hand, or lean into a hug.
A little while ago I was talking to someone about the importance of 'showing up'. Don't worry if you're good enough, don't worry about all the extra stressors, just show up. That's the foundation that everything else can be built from. You got this. #samestormdifferentboats
Just finished reading Holes by Louis Sachar with my 8s for our first novel study. Man - what a good book. I definitely choked up reading it aloud for them today. This book hits WAY differently when you have kids of your own hahaha. #edchat#teachertwitter
