It was great to hear all of the incredible ideas and the hard work that has been put into reflecting the views of your classmates. Well done @TownCloseSchool Council.
This morning, our School Council met with Mr Tiley-Nunn to discuss some of the pupils suggestions that have been put forward from across the age groups. A wide range of interesting ideas for consideration; thank you to all those who contributed.

Reception performed their nativity to a full house in Read Hall this morning, launching the Pre Prep Nativity Season & our countdown to Christmas with incredible confidence & energy! It is a magnificent achievement to perform in a professional, tiered auditorium to over 220 people at 4-5 years old; we are incredibly proud of each & every child.
A huge well done to all of the children, to the Reception teachers & teaching assistants for their direction & support, Miss Skinner for the musical accompaniment, Miss Goddard for assisting with the dancing, & to all the families & friends who cheered & clapped in all the right places.

CONGRATULATIONS to our U11 girls who finished in the top 8 teams in the country at the @iapsuksport National Finals last week @ReptonSchool
Conceding only one goal in the entire tournament, they recorded two wins & two draws in the group stage to progress through to the top 8 teams & the quarter finals. A very close quarter final could have gone either way, with Town Close having a goal disallowed before being knocked out to a 1-0 loss to the eventual tournament runners up.
The team were exemplary on & off the pitch, representing the school with great tenacity, sportsmanship & maturity. Special thanks to their coaches Mrs Hale & Mrs Mitchell for supporting the girls on a truly memorable trip as well as to their incredible familial fan club who made the journey to Derbyshire to cheer the girls on!

Mr Tiley-Nunn chose an autumnal themed book for Nursery to enjoy with him this week. 'The Squirrels Who Squabbled' was a lovely rhyming tale about friendship & the importance of sharing.

Town Close remembers.
Mr Kendrick led our Prep pupils in marking Armistice Day, remembering those who have died in the service of their country in the great war & all conflicts since. A two-minute silence was observed across School whilst our Heads of School laid a wreath at the Eaton War Memorial on behalf of our community.
In Pre Prep, the symbolism & significance of the poppy was explored in artistic activities across the age groups.

Thank you to @Norfolkfire for visiting our Reception pupils today!
Providing the perfect start to their week of learning, the children listened intently as the firefighters pointed out the different parts of the vehicle, explained the type of emergencies they attend & talked through their protective equipment. All of the children were, particularly, thrilled to have the opportunity to sit in the fire engine & to spray the hose!

Our Reception children were delighted to welcome another exciting set of visitors today, welcoming PC Sam & PC Matt from @NorfolkPolice to continue their 'On the Move' topic learning, with a specific focus on emergency vehicles. PC Matt was particularly excited to visit having attended Town Close himself 30 years ago!
The children were interested to learn more about the role of police officers in our community. They had a chance to see, feel & try on a range of protective equipment as well as to sit in all areas of the police vehicle, activate the lights & siren, & erect a police cordon.
A fantastic morning of learning!

After learning about the importance of bees to human life & health, our Year 1 Lime Tree Class completed a sponsored run this morning to support their sponsorship of two bee hives from Hollins Apiary.
Wearing their homemade 'bee' headwear, they took to the Woodland Walk, raising a total of ยฃ70.10.
Well done, Lime Tree Class!

Thank you @domrosevalente for joining us @TownCloseSchool to share your new book. My daughter is already really enjoying โWitchsparkโ - I thought the opening chapter was awesome.
This morning, we were delighted to welcome children's author, @domrosevalente, into School to visit our Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 as well as children from local schools, Edith Cavell Academy & @CharlesDarwinFS
Dominque introduced her new magical adventure book, 'Witchspark', & the inspiration behind it before setting the children a collective challenge to come up with their own idea for a book using the 5 story fundamentals of:
1. Conflict
2. Plot
3. Characters
4. Setting
5. Theme
Our thanks to Dominique & @Usborne for an inspiring morning.

CONGRATULATIONS to our U11 girls hockey team for qualifying for the IAPS National Finals! ๐
Competing against 16 other schools from across the East of England, our girls progressed to the knock out stages as winners of their group & remained unbeaten until the end of normal time in the Final when only a golden goal in extra time for the opposition split the two teams, with Town Close finishing runners up on the day.
With both teams in the Final qualifying for the Nationals, all were in high spirits & deservedly so after a day of impressive hockey when the entire squad played their hearts out! Mrs Hale & Mrs Mitchell were incredibly proud of all the girls & look forward to the National Finals due to take place at @ReptonSchool in November.
Our thanks to @Fram_Sport for hosting the event & well done to all of the other teams & competitors.

Our Year 8 F24 Team enjoyed a very successful day at the @greenpower_team International Finals at @GoodwoodRRC yesterday. Competing against 90 international teams from within the 11-16 year old age category, they ranked 21st overall & 5th in Class. A fantastic achievement for a young team who, according to Mr Buck, were a joy to accompany.
Well done to Tilly, Eva, George, Ethan, Edward, Hugo & Ruby, & special thanks to the enthusiastic band of parents for all their support over the weekend.

Such a pleasure to host this wonderful workshop and concert. It was great to see and hear the talented musicians from @TownCloseSchool@Greshams_School and @NorwichSchool playing together as one.
An orchestral workshop in our Read Hall brought together musicians from @Greshams_School, @NorwichSchool & our own Prep School Orchestra to the benefit & delight of all. A concert to showcase their day's work & progress was the perfect way to conclude a fantastic day of collaborative music.
Huge thanks to our Head of Music, Mrs Koczur, for arranging & hosting the event as well as to all the supporting staff from all of the schools.
