@SeahawkNerd Sam is talking about post FA and Draft. Where the rams mixed their holes massively and the Seahawks lost a lot key contributors.
Rams lost twice mainly because of special teams. Seattle was the better team because of that and it showed.
@kizwatsen@tejfbanalytics Mcvay also said it best. If drafting one of those rookies meant playing in sofi in February then heck yeah they would have done that. But there is absolutely no guarantee. If a need pop up, trade a mid round pick to fix the need. They have the picks and cap to acquire them.
@kizwatsen@tejfbanalytics 1. You can disagree with their process. Their process’s have been better than most.
2. Stafford is still year to year. He might play one season, might play three.
3. Their 3rd biggest need entering the offseason was what’s after Stafford.
4. Vets > rookies in SB windows.
@tejfbanalytics Plus it’s much easier to trade a 3rd at the deadline for a proven vet who will probably have more of an impact than Bain or Lemon for this short window.
@tejfbanalytics Here is their reasoning.
They loved Simpson and saw him as a guy who can be the next leader of the team.
If they are a great team the next two years, moving up 15-20 spots in the draft to select the 4th best QB is going to cost them an extra 1 and 2 at least.
@AJSchulteFB How much better is the 5th best QB in next years class than Simpson? A 2028 1st, and 3rd a 2027 2nd? I’d rather pass because that’s what it would probably take to move if not more….
@LedyardNFLDraft It’s like the ravens when they lead the league in running when everybody was trying to pass. Lakers were running the ball 40 times a game when everybody else ran it 25 times. If you always fail to look at the context you will always be missing the point.
@LedyardNFLDraft It helped a ton when you had the best defensive player in basketball guarding the rim in AD who is incredibly smart and never gets in foul trouble. When your defensive big is the opposite of JJJ and KAT, plus build your offensive identity around pressure, you will win FT battles

Bringing up lakers FT attempts is a lack of understanding their offensive philosophy during that era. They tried to make contact while others couldn’t. They zagged while everyone trying to zig because they had to.
The Lakers' drives stat is misleading in terms of correlation w/free throws IMO. They're 2nd in rim frequency + 5th in efficiency. Most of that rim pressure comes from face-ups/post-ups, mismatch hunting + flash cuts. There are many more ways than drives to create rim pressure.
@LedyardNFLDraft When they got Luka their FTs plummeted as their offense shifted which backs my case. Would love stats from your end not opinion.
I gave you why they shot a lot of FT. They sucked at shooting so their offense was putting pressure on the rim. Oppposite of every team shooting 3s
@LedyardNFLDraft Ironically I’ve been defending SGA for 2 years with my friends. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t defend him anymore. When he’s not getting his calls he looks like Dwayne Wade and not the best player in the league (pretends to be shocked).
@LedyardNFLDraft Lakers led the league in free throw teams for 2-3 years. Why? Worst 3pt team in the league, lead the leagues in drives and shots near the rim. Shocking all the data points to a team that that shoot will shoot a lot of free throws. But I know that doesn’t fit your narrative.
