Historic Teesside

Off the coast of Hartlepool Headland was a rock formation shaped like an elephant.

"Elephant rock" was formed by a combination of coastal erosion and quarrying.

It was washed away by a storm in 1891 but it’s legacy lives on through a new outdoor events space
