$COCP Cocrystal just appointed James Sapirstein as new CEO.
Sapirstein brings extensive Antiviral development and commercialization experience (former CEO of Contravir and Tobira, senior roles at Gilead and BMS). Sam Lee moves to President & Chief Scientific Officer. Jim Martin stays as CFO.
Solid addition to the team as the Norovirus program advances.

$COCP Another GI outbreak on the U.S. flagged National Geographic Sea Bird in Alaska. 13.6% of passengers (9 out of 66) and 12.5% of crew sick with vomiting + diarrhea.
Cruise ended Sunday, CDC already declared it an official outbreak. Cause still unknown. No approved norovirus drug or vaccine.
Meanwhile COCP has the only oral one in humans right now (CDI-988). Phase 1b prevention + treatment cohorts are already enrolled (NCT07198139).
Fred Hassan owns 10%+, insiders/directors own 39%, and institutions still only ~5.6%. Data desert.
This is insane how quiet it is.

Wastewater surveillance across the United States shows elevated “high” levels of norovirus, with a new mutated strain driving widespread transmission even after the typical winter peak.
Although flu season has largely passed, this stubborn stomach virus continues to spread rapidly. Recent outbreaks have affected hikers along Southern California’s Pacific Crest Trail, where seasonal travel and warmer weather have pushed more people indoors, accelerating transmission.
The dominant culprit is the GII.17 strain, a highly mutated variant that accounted for approximately 75% of norovirus outbreaks in the 2024–2025 season. Because most people have limited immunity to this newer strain, it is spreading more easily through communities.
Norovirus is extremely contagious, one infected person can transmit it to an average of seven others via contaminated surfaces, food, or close contact. Since many cases are mild and resolved at home without medical visits, wastewater monitoring has become one of the most reliable tools for tracking its spread.
There is no specific treatment or role for antibiotics, as this is a viral illness. Health experts recommend staying hydrated with oral rehydration solutions (rather than regular sports drinks), resting, and isolating to prevent further spread.

Recent wastewater surveillance reveals an upward trend to “high” levels of norovirus across much of the country, with rates currently rising in the Northeast. https://t.co/NrigJpADZJ

A gastroenteritis outbreak at Athens’ Attikon University Hospital has exposed shortcomings in basic hospital safety measures and chronic staffing shortages, hospital employees said Thursday.

$COCP Update another major closed environment outbreak right now. Over 140 incarcerated people at Broome County Correctional Facility (Binghamton, NY) developed Norovirus in just 24-48 hours.
This is exactly the kind of high-risk closed setting (prisons, like military bases, cruise ships, hospitals, and schools) where CDI-988 is designed to make a difference.
No approved treatments or vaccines exist.
Meanwhile, on going efficacy CDI-988 remains the only oral direct-acting antiviral in the world at Emory Phase 1b or 2a human challenge study (prevention + treatment cohorts at 1,200 mg × 5 days).

$COCP Here’s why today’s Cocrystal pan viral press release is directly relevant to CDI-988 and the Norovirus blue ocean. This is the exact same structure based Nobel Prize platform that created CDI-988 the only oral direct-acting antiviral in the world for Norovirus (pan-Norovirus + pan-coronavirus 3CL protease inhibitor).
Norovirus has zero approved treatments or vaccines and causes over 1 billion cases yearly. It wrecks hospitals, cruise ships, military bases, and schools with constant outbreaks. CDI-988 is first in class designed for pre-exposure prevention and post-exposure treatment.
It’s already in the midst of the effecacy Emory Phase 1b human challenge study (NCT07198139) prevention + treatment cohorts active at 1,200 mg BID × 5 days.
Today’s news (new pan-viral replication inhibitors with IC₅₀ <50 nM against Hantaan virus, plus bunyavirus & flu) shows the platform is successfully working across multiple high-threat RNA viruses that thrive in closed environments. No approved drugs exist for any of these either.
Cocrystal has been actively pursuing non-dilutive DOD and BARDA funding for CDI-988, given its strong military relevance for protecting closed environments and operational readiness for stockpiling. This is real-time validation of Cocrystal’s structure-based platform.
Efficacy data from the ongoing Norovirus challenge study is the near-term catalyst plus non dilutive funding.
$COCP Nitazoxanide failed completely in transplant patients with Norovirus.
Meanwhile, Cocrystal’s oral CDI-988 is the only antiviral in active Phase 1b human challenge trials with FDA Fast Track specifically designed for Norovirus prevention and treatment.
Still no approved options.
The silence from the market is telling.
Many have wanted the data - and the final publication for the Nitazoxanide for Norovirus in Transplants Study is out!
Time to stop using nitazoxanide for norovirus - zero impact on virology, no impact on clinical outcomes and clear financial toxicity.

$COCP Norovirus outbreak now spreading along the Pacific Crest Trail in California hikers getting sick in campsites and shared water sources.
While the Hantavirus story dominates global headlines, the far more common Norovirus continues hitting high density environments hard.
Still no approved antiviral exists for Norovirus. Cocrystal’s oral CDI-988 is the only one in active Phase 1b human challenge trials in the world with FDA Fast Track designed specifically for these outbreaks.
The silence from the market is telling.

$COCP Non dilutive BARDA cash on the flu side could arrive faster than many expect. 10Q: Cocrystal just highlighted their dry-powder inhalation formulation of CC-42344 now positioned as "prophylaxis " and treatment for pandemic & seasonal influenza A.
*GLP toxicology studies completed
*Superior lung exposure + long half-life (perfect for prevention)
*~1,000X more potent than Tamiflu against the 2024 H5N1 bird-flu strain (in vitro EC50: 0.003 µM vs Tamiflu 2.69 µM)
Importantly, in January 2026 they hired EverGlade Consulting the premier specialists in winning BARDA/DoD non-dilutive funding and granted them stock options.
This inhaled version is perfectly tailored for BARDA AOI 9.3: Pre-exposure Prophylaxis Influenza in their active BAA.

$COCP Big News. Critical Update.
Stage 1 infectivity cohort fully enrolled (reconfirmed).
Prevention and treatment cohorts now fully enrolled and actively moving forward.
Cocrystal has already started dosing the efficacy arms clear signal the company is confident the infectivity model is working as expected.
Readout Timing: Formal “infectivity validated immediate pivot to prevention/treatment cohorts” topline is still imminent.
Highest probability: early to mid June.
Zero scientific risk this is Emory/UNC using their own GII.2 Snow Mountain Virus in their own model.
Core Asset: CDI-988 the only oral direct-acting 3CL protease inhibitor in clinical development for Norovirus.
Phase 1b human challenge study at Emory/UNC the global #1 experts who developed and own the GII.2 Snow Mountain Virus inoculum itself.

$COCP Another school just shut down from a major Norovirus outbreak. Norovirus continues hitting closed environments cruises, schools, military bases. No approved antiviral exists in the world. Cocrystal’s oral CDI-988 has FDA Fast Track and is in active Phase 1b human challenge trials with strong update today built exactly for these outbreaks. Fred Hassan on the board in total silence + BARDA/RRPV + DOD positioning. The silence is deafening. https://t.co/KhrkNNzx0u
