Parent Pov: I'm disappointed to find out that my child is another victim, so to speak, of academic tracking-- a child who has so much creativity and ability, which I see shine through when he is doing homework & other activities. Why is he not given the same chance?!

@EmmaDav47940337 I like the idea of a weekly newsletter being sent out to the students and their families! Letting parents know what their student is learning keeps them in the loop and could possibly help keep the student even more focused. #491FlynnF20

@EmmaDav47940337 Emma, that is so true--as teachers, I don't think we will ever intentionally try to single out our students, but the students or their guardians could perceive it that way. Being an active listener is a great first step in helping the situation. #491FlynnF20

@CarrerasKaitlyn I would have to agree with your point about there being a disconnect with HS students between the community and them--if we give them the opportunity, however, something beautiful might flourish and come out of it! #491FlynnF20

@CarrerasKaitlyn I think that inviting them into the classroom to talk and then doing all of those things is great, Kaitlyn! Tone can be misunderstood via email, so helping them understand you are on their side is key. #491FlynnF20
