Forever grateful to my @gordoncollege professor who encouraged me to write this piece! And of course my students who inspire me to keep learning 💙 #iteachmath#mtbos
Starting in a new classroom and district this year gave me the opportunity to fully commit to using #buildingthinkingclassroom practices as often as possible. There’s been a little bit of a learning curve, but today I really saw the magic- and they did too🙌 #iteachmath
@desmosclassroom In 5th grade, Mrs. Perry took a whole class period to show us examples of how math and science depend on each other. As a teacher I try to make the same connection for my students!
@desmosclassroom Desmos has so many great features, but my favorite is the tips at the bottom of each teacher screen. These tips help keep me focused on exactly what we want students to be taking away from each activity! It’s so helpful to have it within the lesson!
7th graders exploring alphabetical probability- one of my absolute favorite probability tasks from @mburnsmath because it allows students to work together to organize information, ask really great questions, and reason about data sets and sample size! https://t.co/PBrfUtAsmO.
I will never get tired of the beautiful conversations that emerge when students get the opportunity to do math at the whiteboards with their classmates 💚 #iteachmath#buildingthinkingclassrooms
The 8th grade exponent lessons from @desmosclassroom do SO much more than just giving students rules to memorize. These students were finding pairs and explaining why they were equivalent! #mydesmosclassroom 💙
Introducing some math games during our WIN block this week! Does anyone have any favorites these middle schoolers might want to try?! I can’t remember where I found this one, but it was a hit! #iteachmath#mtbos
