@WhitleyBarnes10 Great infographic! As a DCBS worker I have had some foster parents become uneasy/unsure when fostering LGBTQ youth. I definitely think trainings in schools, for parents & out-of-home care settings would be beneficial for all.

6/2020 the Supreme Court banned job discrimination based on gender identity & sexual orientation. This aligns w/COE value of social justice. SWs should support social change on behalf of oppressed groups of ppl.

@EmileeNealy I agree & also completely AGAINST this bill. After the #GeorgeFloyd & #BreonnaTaylor murders, protest all over the US were held. This bill ALSO increases the punishment for participating in “riots”. I’m really shocked reading this. #WKUsocialWorkpolicy

A new law in KY supporting COE social justice principle. The law will establish a commission that researches racial disparities& identify areas of improvement of services in minority communities.

APS investigates reports of elder abuse. SWs primary goal is to help those in need. This correlates with the COEs service value. I have attached a link that contains tools and helpful info for SWs working w/elders.

@DavidPa86591889 SB 35 is going to prevent individuals that have committed certain crimes or on the abuse registry from running an assisted-living community. This is a great step in protecting our elder population! #WKUsocialworkpolicy

@DavidPa86591889 @AdalineEstay I completely agree!! I’m so surprised by how many reports I receive concerning school aged chn & teachers did not report obvious concerns. Also, trainings regarding signs of abuse should be mandatory #wkusocialworkpolicy

@kaylabrookeMSW I think that parents should be educated. Also, there should be services for pregnant women testing positive for substances. Currently, DCBS will not accept the report until the baby is born. #wkusocialworkpolicy

@TammyVantrease I agree! I wish there was so much more that could be done for prevention...However, the signs of sexual abuse should definitely be taught! I have worked with so many families that were unaware of the signs. #WKUsocialworkpolicy

@Brianna92313022 Improving access will allow all individuals to receive needed healthcare & MH services. In my experience some of my clients did not have access to the resources needed for virtual services. ex) WiFi, device w/camera, tech savvy etc. #WKUsocialworkpolicy

@CaterCamryn1 I somewhat disagree...COVID services are free. Also, fear of discrimination from PCP (I have experienced this) & lack of AA healthcare workers in some areas are also some reasons some AAs do not regularly see a DR or get insurance. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
