The Dexter Athletic Department is excited to continue recognizing outstanding Dexter student-athletes with the Athlete of the Month program. For September, please congratulate football player Cooper Arnedt 🏈 and swimmer Kayce McAllister! 🏊🏻♀️
Educators are not burning out because they need to do better at self-care.
Educators are burning out because of how they are being treated, what is being expected of them, low levels of respect, etc.
Maybe we wouldn't need as much self-care if we addressed the other issues.
Teachers don't leave because it's hard. Teachers are some of the hardest working and conscientious professionals I know. They leave because the amount of work no longer is comparable to pay, respect, support, and value that they deserve for the workload. We must do better.
These photos from a recent XC meet were sent to us by the mom of a Rochester student-athlete. She was touched to see Dexter's Karl Fink help a struggling competitor finish out the race. Karl was recognized as "Star of the Meet" by his team, and we wanted to acknowledge him, too!
We are SO excited to have Tierney join our coaching staff! Her experience as a coach & an athlete are impressive! It makes her another great example of how exceptional women’s sports truly are & how far our Dexter athletes (esp. female athletes) can reach #DreadStrong
It’s with great pleasure that I introduce our new dive coach, Tierney Fraidenburg!
Tierney joins us after completing her career at EMU and has been coaching diving for the last 6 years at Huron Valley Swim Club and Legacy Diving.
If a formal observation is the first time an admin is in a teachers classroom, then the best course of action is to put the evaluation form away. Sit, listen, and then leave a note of thanks, praise or encouragement. Relationships first!
What a weekend! Dealt with a few blows leading up to state and these 9 guys stepped up all weekend! I couldn’t be any more proud of what they accomplished as a TEAM! Thanks for a great weekend guys!
Please repost! K-12 teachers and admins, we are still looking for a few more responses to our survey. Conducting a national study to find out how well prepared Ts were to integrate technology into teaching? https://t.co/sfVKcXzuSM @UMichEducation
Total power outage at DHS today! We’re cold, using phones as flashlights in the hallway, but playing some fun games to pass the time!! #DreadStrong#HealmNo
Mission Accomplished! Move 6-0 (3-0 SEC Red!). Our first win over Skyline since the 2012-2013 season! I’m so proud of all the guys, winning only 3 events shows that this was a true team effort! Way to go Dreads! #DreadStrong
Schools function on a lot of ‘good will’ from staff. Offering to do things like staying late, organising things last minute, going on trips. When staff are exhausted or start putting boundaries in place because they’re burning out it’s quite a shock for some people.
Incredible learning experience about Mental Strength by our team today. 40 athletes got better today! Thank you Jacci Storey (@StoreyJacci) for taking the time to talk to our athletes! @ms_hansenDHS@DexSwimDive@DreadStrong
Being a brave athlete doesn’t mean you have no fear in games. It means you have the courage to face your fears, trust yourself, and take action despite feeling nervous.
Real confidence is rooted in humility not arrogance.
It's about knowing your strengths while remaining open to learning and growth.
Confidence is about believing in yourself and your skills.
