@kapergirl@trapperpride Photo of school in bAckground on a Google Slide. Teachers make own bitmoji with app and send to me. I edit images/remove backgrounds/words etc, change size of each to fit and layer on the slide in places they fit. Not super hard, but lots of time to get it just right.
@TamaraRichman @edtechteam@RachaelEdu I’d say talk to the teachers to start. There are SO many apps and tools out there kids can get overwhelmed with too much choice or options. Reinforce the ones classroom teachers are already using til you get comfy and then see where the gaps are or what hasn’t been addressed.
Someone said the video of the young girl chanting 'send her back' at the Trump rally reminded them of a scene from the Jackie Robinson movie '42'. So I put them side by side, and they were right, the similarities are both striking, and sickening. This is how racism works.
@doxtdatorb @JacquelynKarney @MeehanEDU@burgessdave@alicekeeler Oh, so no “public critical discourse” if it’s advocating compassion for a white man? you may have had some good points about ways this game could have been improved, but that is lost when your way of engaging is based on shutting women up and discounting ppl based on race.
@doxtdatorb @JacquelynKarney @MeehanEDU@burgessdave@alicekeeler Public discourse, unless there a question from a woman? Then her reply isn’t “helpful” according to you. Patriarchy abounds.
@JacquelynKarney @doxtdatorb@MeehanEDU@burgessdave@alicekeeler But think educators should all work as if we’re on the same team. Perhaps the context could just be changed to a group of explorers and settlers on Mars in the future. It’s very difficult to teach history in a way that students can empathize and be engaged...
@JacquelynKarney @doxtdatorb@MeehanEDU@burgessdave@alicekeeler I guess if you ask a question that challenges the original poster, you’re “not helpful” in his opinion. I think you asked I prtant and compassionate questions. I too wonder if Meehan was given the courtesy of a private email first. There was some legit feedback on The scenario,
@GoogleForEdu Social 10 in Alberta is about Globalization and Identitiy. Just created an assignment where students would add pins for global places that have influenced their identity, with pictures and write ups. Combined into a class map of how we are all affected by globalization.
Finished up the last school day of 2018 with writing our wishes for the first baby boy and girl born in #ymm and packing up the gifts the students collected as the Wise Men did for Baby Jesus. @FMCSD@trapperpride all ready to be delivered Christmas Eve.
