TEN THANK-YOU LETTERS 🪩
After reading “Ten Thank-You Letters” we decided to create our own letters for ten people who deserve a huge thank you! Love the way this project turned out, and how proud the students were to present their letters! ♥️
ONE WORD FOR KIDS 🪩
Coming back from winter break we read the book “One Word for Kids.” After reading the book, each student decided on one word that would have importance for 2024. Students then made special bracelets that would remind them of their special word! @WinnipegSD
FRIDGE-WORTHY WORK 🪩
Our first fridge-worthy student has been chosen! She showed dedication to completing her published work with neat and careful printing and colouring! Every student will have work posted on the class fridge throughout the year to celebrate! @norquayschool1
BEFORE 🪩 AFTER
Back from my maternity leave today and was lucky enough to sneak in over the break to spruce up the room! I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out, and I’m hoping the kids are happy with the change! Welcome back to Room 6!

Good luck to all the amazing teachers back at school this week! Mixed emotions not starting the year or setting up my class, but grateful for extra time with my little one!👶🏼This year’s batch of rock name tags! Names will be added Jan when I’m back! 🫶🏼 @WinnipegSD @norquayschool1
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS. Room 6 wrote their own land acknowledgment statements, and created watercolour maps showing the different First Nation and Treaty areas of Manitoba. So proud of them for coming up with such insightful work! @norquayschool1 @WinnipegSD
FRACTION JAMBOARD. Students love using Jamboard to share their observations - it’s (somewhat) anonymous and they can instantly see their ideas displayed for the class! Even my most reserved students were excited to share their fraction learning! @norquayschool1 @WinnipegSD
ROOM 6’S DISASTROUS WISHES 🧞♂️Check out our newest writing project! We used our read aloud as inspiration and wrote our own chapters! So proud of my kids for using so much VOICE and humour in their writing!✏️ @norquayschool1 @WinnipegSD
We started our milkweed exploration today with the first step - seed germination. We started three different types of milkweed (thanks Dad) and are very excited about the growing process! @norquayschool1 @WinnipegSD #milkweed
MATH TALK. We’ve continued using Jamboard as a way to show our learning with the class. Love seeing these different math strategies - multiplication, repeated addition, skip counting 💡@norquayschool1 @WinnipegSD #jamboard
WE ARE LEARNING … 💡The kids love updating our learning goals every few days! This is one quick and easy way to make sure we are on track as a class and aware of the intent of our learning! @norquayschool1 @WinnipegSD #winnipegsd
POSTCROSSING! Today we were excited to receive our 4th postcard - from Salt Lake City, Utah! Postcrossing is always a favourite of mine, and it never fails to authentically teach about the world. 🌎 So far we have received from Germany, Japan, Slovakia and USA! @WinnipegSD
LLAMA TELL YA ABOUT MY NEW FRIEND! This writing project was focused on introductory sentences! Students learned how to write an interview, practised reading and answering interview questions aloud, and recorded their friends’ responses! @WinnipegSD @norquayschool1#winnipegsd
Late post! SAID IS DEAD! 🪦 One of the favourites from our Halloween activities this year! Students are still loving to remind each other to use more interesting vocabulary! @WinnipegSD @norquayschool1#winnipegsd
While Matt was off-duty from his normal role in gas operations, he rescued a man and his dog whose boat flipped 💪 His bravery has been recognized by the Lifesaving Society, Mayor Brian Bowman, and others.
Well done Matt! Full story on our blog: https://t.co/8FGbn1FgLT
