If a student doesn’t have a pen, don’t ‘just give them a pen’.

Instead you could:

-Give them a pen and take note. If it happens again, follow up with a consequence
-Give them a purple pen so it’s easy to show parents the days equipment isn’t right
-Teach them how to locate a pen
-Teach them how to pack properly for the day
-Privately, ask if there are any reasons why they aren’t ready
-Record any equipment issues, daily
-Teach them why being organised matters.
-Teach them to bring three pens a day.

Don’t ’just give them a pen.’ You are not Stationery Santa. Don’t teach them to be helpless. Show them you care by teaching them to be independent.

Soo, we are asked to do an EOY assessment during the whole school assessment week. However, as this coincides with our end of topic we are now also doing an end of topic assessment a week after we have done the EOY. Thoughts anybody?
