it's not about blaming anybody. it's just that when you are struggling to make ends meet, you value freebies over long term benefits.

and giving everyone equal voting rights in such a situation doesn't seem fair.

Creating anarchy and chaos won't solve anything but only create unrest and agony. Further divide the already divided.

The elections being fought on freebies is because you get votes. Staying in power affects the vision and thus no action gets taken.
