There is something that amazes me about hardware products on SharkTank. Someone has an idea, designs and patents it, then gets manufacturing in China financed internally, and get some sales before they look for investors. Very few Africans do this. Why don’t we think this way?
I was invited to Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands to experience end to end process of making a microchip.
I want to invest in microchips research and production. We need to start making our own electronics in Nigeria and stop our over dependency in China.
This university has the same rating as MIT in the US. Semiconductor were actually invented here. The biggest company in Europe (ASML) was students research here.
This is what I expect from our universities in Nigeria. They are not doing any meaningful research. Lectures are busy destroying students while the world is moving fast.
They welcomed with open arms and i will be more than happy to work with them in the coming months.
Dear Africa,
We need to go hard on hardware + software technology.
Why?
Digital is an application of hardware + software technology.
If we control or own our hardware + software, we control our digital and digital is our future.
For now, let's use other people's digital
If you have ever connected a GSM modem to an Arduino, you have been doing it wrong. The modem is a much more powerful device than the Arduino you are using to control it.

First in a series of kits we are working on. This one is a gsm kit that can be programmed in phyton and is suitable for kids in secondary school and for undergraduates. Application areas includes embedded systems, IoT and telecoms.
Lots of nice feedback on the OpenAI API but the best yet is from a friend's 13 year old kid:
"Is it really a computer doing this? Not a person?"
"Yes."
...5 seconds of silence...
"That is the coolest thing in the entire world!"
...10 seconds of silence...
"I'm going to study AI"
