We do not have to live like this. No other country on the planet does.
@TeachMrReed My middle school hosted challenge day for all the 7th graders in the building. It is still one of the most memorable days of middle school 10 years later!
@borbasusie@edutopia@NSTA@WeAreCTA I like setting up times when the notifications can come through and when they can’t. That way I still have access on my phone for the convenience, but don’t have the pressure to do anything outside school hours.
@gautiersue A student last year taught me to Google bold/underline text and then copy and paste. Not a great solution, but it works for small quantities!
@Techy_Jenn Unsupportive leadership, general low expectations of students school-wide, many teachers complained and counted down the hours to the end of the day, feeling unsafe with COVID procedures. This was my 1st year teaching and switching districts mid-year was absolutely worth it!
I couldn’t get my thoughts straight on paper today and was getting frustrated. I had to try something new and discovered a new way to plan units that I think I’m going to LOVE!
I once had a principal who told me my classroom was "not the forum for changing the world" after I'd planned to teach an LGBTQ-inclusive lesson.
Say it with me: Classrooms will always be forums for changing the world.
@MsWheeler11 Try to gauge what your daily routine will look like. How many different classes will you teach? What prep time will you have? How many students will you have overall? What’s the length of a teaching period? This info really helps you understand if the school is a god fit for you!
4 weeks into my new teaching position, all I can say is making this change was definitely the right choice I’m loving getting to know my new students and new content area, my stress level has gone way down, and I’m enjoying everything so much more.
I couldn’t let International Women’s Day pass without recognizing some of my idols. I’m thankful for all those who put the first few cracks in the ceilings women continue to shatter #InternationalWomensDay
@SurthrivEDU I used this for a day-by-day interactive notebook in December! It was so cool and so helpful to not overwhelm students with slides for the entire unit!
Today was my first day teaching at my alma mater. It was such a positive experience, and I can’t wait for tomorrow! Switching schools mid-year is not easy, but it seems so worth it already!
