Can I go back to 4th grade?!? Ms. Metcalf, Ms. Weaver, and their Ss brought the energy!⚡️From drum calls to anchoring the learning in everyday experiences all Ss can relate to, these amazing educators are making learning accessible for all. @auburndale_elem@JCPSKY@JCPSAcademics
💀IT’S SPOOKY SEASON💀 But nothing is scary about this! 👻 It was a pleasure watching 4th grade science students collaborate authentically to build skeletons and explain how our body keeps us safe. Bone-tastic job, Ms. Rose 🦴@NCES_Knights@JCPSKY@JCPSAcademics@jcpsInnovation
Whether on the beach in Barbados or in the terminal at SDF, I’m so grateful our work has brought us together 💕 it’s not often that one is privileged to do meaningful work alongside the best in the field. I can’t wait until we’re together again!! 🫶🏾

My favorite teachers cared & connected. They also:
Apologized when they were wrong
Didn't assume they were smarter because they were older
Admitted when they made a mistake
Listened to students
Said thank you
Tried not to take things personally
I tried to be this teacher, too.
The trouble with Restorative Practices in schools is that there is too much focus on using them to respond to incidents and not enough on building community to prevent incidents. You can't restore what you didn't build.
Since it is Paulo Freire's birthday, I want to remind everyone what he taught us: there’s no such thing as a politically neutral education, a politically neutral curriculum, or a politically neutral pedagogy.
