After years of pushing “inclusive” storytelling, she’s admitting the industry is in an identity crisis, execs are scared to touch certain projects, and representation for women of color is sliding backward
“You have to be smarter about how you package and market [projects]. You tell them, ‘It’s not a show about a Black woman, it’s a show about class,’ as icky as that might feel, it gets the show sold.”

George Washington Carver pioneered agriculture with concepts of crop rotations. He taught farmers to plant nitrogen-fixing crops such as peanuts and soybeans.
However, he was making history years before when he became the first Black student at Iowa State University, where he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees. After, he became the first Black faculty member.
