Thanks @MsKass1@skidmoreaimee@leaningshane for what @jimknight99 would call “A life-giving conversation” ! The idea/ideal of “thought sanctuary” that Kass shared is affirming ! Reflecting on how our coaching conversations could be “sanctuary” for the teacher is inspiring!
Thanks so much for inviting me in this cross-globe conversation!
I loved thinking out loud with you all, especially in regards to repositioning teachers as agents of their own learning.
#TeachingFiercely#thoughtsanctuary
I always do this to myself: Schedule in podcast episodes in the evening and then get so excited about the conversation, I can't sleep.
Huge thanks to @MsKass1, @skidmoreaimee and @Schoolguy for this incredible thought sanctuary! Buzzing!

Guess What Folks, Schooling is Political https://t.co/VnmewfN1by
For issues on education, where access to school life is largely occupied by young people with limited power, it is imperative news outlets are held accountable for clarity & accuracy in their reporting.
"we must focus on equipping teachers with the knowledge and skills they need to improve student reading outcomes. This will require far more than knowledge of how to teach phonics and phonemic awareness"
Yes! I've advocated for acting classes as a component of teacher prep programs in higher ed many times.
The dramatic parts of teaching are curricular access for many students. How we enunciate, move our bodies, show our faces...those cues are often easier to read...
Teaching demands an underrated amount of acting.
like we’ve never heard a kid share that idea before.
like we’re excited about a moment in a text for the 3rd period in a row.
like that project hasn’t been done many times before
like we are not tired, frustrated, annoyed, etc
I need an article like this, but instead of officials, reading people, & teachers, ONLY kids are interviewed. What's their take? What do they have to say about these policies that impact them more than anyone else?

3 years ago, my dream job was cancelled.
Emily's Wonder Lab helped inspire the next generation of scientists. I pitched dozens of science experiments for more seasons, but they weren't interested.
What do you do when your dream is cancelled?
You pivot.
I turned the experiments into a book series.
They became a #1 NYTimes Best Seller.
I used all the money I made from the books to hire a production company to help me turn each of the 100 science experiments into a YouTube series.
Introducing: Emily's Science Lab. It launches tomorrow.
Here's to controlling our own destiny ;)

You’re not gonna convince me that getting upset or angry when folks use “their”, “they’re”, and “there” and “to” and “too”, “peaked”and “piqued” interchangeably isn’t grounded in imperialist white supremacist capitalist patriarchy. Like, what does that make you angry?
If you ain’t on team “teacher autonomy” you FOR SURE can’t be on team “blame teachers”
Can’t give teachers boring stuff to do then be like “why the kids bored?”
Congratulations to this year's @macfound MacArthur Fellows, who include several authors with ties to Duke University Press, including Jennifer L. Morgan and Ruha Benjamin @ruha9. You can read some of their work for free!
