Hi everyone! I am hanging out trying to find some apps with the goal of benefitting students language, grammar, and vocabulary. Does anyone have recommendations or suggestions as to what student friendly apps there are that can help achieve such a goal?

@Scyonamine I have to say this wasn’t my strong suit either. It took me a few tries to really expand my creativity on building lessons that are unique in their own way. A variety of activities assist in keeping students engaged.

@Mr_Jon_Miller How will you overcome the fear of judgement from other educators in order to make sure you are teaching your students the way YOU want. We need to set an example to our students to stand up for what we want and work towards reaching our goals!

@AngelaccioDj I completely agree! Students are top priority. Our goal is to guide them towards succcess and making sure their needs are met is a crucial part to ensuring a positive classroom experience. Students want to see we care about them, and we must take action to show them we do.

@msashleycoleman I know many schools that have the same problem, unfortunately many teachers too. Students voices are one of the most important things to listen to and respect in their young adolescent years.

@drfalbe A5: It offered a sense of comfort. The animation & expressions such as happiness, sadness, relief, & hope are all healthy emotions & a part of our daily lives. Their emotional development is in process now more than ever, having feelings be validated is needed. #TCH296

A5: my goal is relearning how to communicate with 12 y/o, being on the other side as a teacher showed me how different middle school is when you’re not one of the students. I don’t want students to see me as intimidating, but I also want them to respect my boundaries. #TCH296

A4: This might be a weird one, but I vividly remember having a hard time spelling “separate” for years. My teacher, Ms. Cassins, said “remember it goes sep-a rat!!!-e, because I would always get confused. Remembering the rat in the middle stuck with me all of these years. #TCH296

A3: Activities that put me on the spot as a younger student were least effective (ex spelling bees), ones that challenged me to work harder had more of an impact compared to activities where I had to prove what I knew, and feel embarrassed if I failed in front of everyone.#TCH296

A2: I plan to pay close attention to their interests, listen to their current “trends”, and try to relate to them. By understanding and showing effort to form connections, the connections are genuine and easier to create. #TCH296

A1: To unlearn the “teacher as hero” narrative, I think it is crucial to create and maintain boundaries with students. Mutual respect and knowing limits each other's is important. #TCH296

When it comes to Historically Responsive teaching, it's important to consider one's identity, intellect, knowledge and criticality. These four things branch from Historically responsive teaching and are important to remember when teaching students. #TCH23521 #consideringstudents
