@MaxWindCowie Hard agree! They spent a long time in opposition and could have done the thinking then. And don't get me started on a Ten Year Plan for the NHS. A short high level vision and a crisp three year plan with a few key objectives would be better.
@PKewes @Ianpark62581273 And state school students need to know about it. If you haven't studied any Latin or Greek at sixth form or below, you might rule it out at degree level automatically.
@wmarybeard Stopping this mid-year is a real shame. I took Latin as an extra GCSE in the 90s at a state school. Loved it! No option to do it at sixth form though. We need schemes like this to spot the state school kids who are burgeoning Classicists.
@MaxWindCowie@SamFletchTHF Exactly..that's why you need family background and income as well. It's complex to unpick.
My husband, for example. First person in his family to go to university, free school meals - definitely working class. Yet in some training at work on DEI the trainer assumed otherwise😂
@SamFletchTHF@MaxWindCowie This is a good report, though with a focus on education. Sensible recommendations. Only 10% of current MPs did not go to university. Gosh. That's definitely not representative.
Love to see a deeper dive into economic background/parental roles & research on barriers.
Also, selling your (anonymised) data is good! The NHS is one of the greatest resources of centralised patient data in the world. It can provide enormous insights into health outcomes and can be parlayed to get deals for cheaper medicines from pharma firms which need that data
@methecooldude@SamMarkWill Aaah..well then perhaps a pop up when purchasing to remind people of the ts and cs, especially for 'anytime'. But it's a crazy rule anyway, lots of young people need to get places early!
@SamMarkWill That's absolutely ridiculous. If they want those ts and cs, they need to be built into the purchasing system, not rely on the customer to remember.
