@EchoesofWarYT I lived near Brandywine as a child, my Dad was raised in that area. He took us for a drive in the area of the Battle one night and told us "Sometimes on a foggy night, you can still hear the sabres clashing." I never forgot that.
@the_transit_guy Getting it out of there was the problem, so they laid tracks across the back parking lot and and went in to tow it out. We saw it sitting there every time we went to the LA County Fair since I was a kid.
Overall, targeted eradication of the worst disease vectors is seen as net positive by many experts (huge human benefit, manageable ecology), especially starting small (e.g., islands or specific species). Full global wipeout is riskier and less necessary. Real-world tests and phased rollouts would reveal exact changes—ecosystems aren't static, and humans have already altered them massively via disease control. The "unintended consequences" are real but often overstated compared to ongoing deaths and suffering.
