I wrote about how a $20,000 psychedelic medicine training that promised education & healing ended with warring lawsuits, a hospitalized trainee, & multiple allegations of sexual assaults. Unpaywalled link for accessibility in reply https://t.co/woReuiF9TA
@jesswelman@Slate@msmacb This is a stark explainer on how out of touch publications can come off, largely due to the decisions of editors who aren't as directly involved in news gathering or the lives of their consumers.
@msmacb is one of my favorite journalists on any beat - she always calls a spade a spade and fwiw produced the most nuanced coverage of the Lykos MDMA-FDA rejection saga that I've read to this day.
An essential follow (to say the least) out with another must-read article:
Just going to keep stoking the fires bc, yay chaos. @Slate has an interesting response to the essay that shall not be named from @msmacb with an interesting take: https://t.co/SZwurkDXGn
Wrote a little something for @Slate about that viral Atlantic story in which the editors give a writer $10k to use on betting apps. Gift link: https://t.co/tLCLemFPrR
how quickly they go from an event (ostensibly) supporting the first amendment to "do you think articulating your opinion of the president is violence and you should stop?"
BASH: You and your fellow Democrats have used some heated rhetoric against the president. Do you think twice about that when something like that happens?
RASKIN: What rhetoric do you have in mind?
BASH: That he's terrible for this country and so on and so forth
Think it’s kinda weird that Raskin gets bullied into saying he doesn’t have a personal problem with Trump. Is that true? I don’t think so.
Words aren’t violence. Heated rhetoric is part of democracy. Saying someone is terrible doesn’t mean you want them shot. We can be grownups
drinking with someone who likes martinis is always weird cuz they’re like “i want it filthy and wet raw missionary with eye contact and sloppy making out” like alright man. cool. im happy u found a drink u like
