From the sales ring to the Real Rider Cup, Claiborne-bred Betweenhereandcool’s journey highlights the importance of Thoroughbred aftercare. After selling as a yearling, he went on to make 83 career starts before beginning his next chapter with owner Mary Ormsby.
Behind every Kentucky Derby winner is a special mare❤️
Meet Carrumba, the dam of Golden Tempo and a graded stakes winner in her own right. She calls @claibornefarm home and is making her mark in the breeding shed after producing a Kentucky Derby champion.
She calls her mount Betweenhereandcool "a true war horse superstar." We are excited to welcome him and Claiborne Farm's MARY ORMSBY to their First Real Rider Cup!

Before GOLDEN TEMPO won the #KentuckyDerby, his dam CARRUMBA had her own graded stakes moment in New York. Here she is winning the 2016 G3 Top Flight Invitational at Aqueduct.
Ten years later, her son won the Derby.
And the jockey aboard both?
Jose Ortiz🌹
Golden Tempo’s yearling groom, Bryce Lee, has quite the reaction to seeing his boy win the Kentucky Derby. Golden Tempo is our 11th Kentucky Derby winner raised @claibornefarm in the last 100 years. Many thanks to a wonderful staff that takes great care of our horses!

Golden Tempo (3yo colt by Curlin out of Carrumba) flies home to win the G1 Kentucky Derby!
Huge congratulations to the connections, including owners/breeders Phipps Stable and St. Elias Stables, trainer @reredevaux, and jockey @jose93_ortiz!
Derby Day falls on May 2nd this year, but 20 years ago it was the Tuesday that BLAME (2006 Arch x Liable) was brought into the world 💛
Happy 20th birthday, Blame!

❄️ SNOW FACE PRINCESS (Midshipman), the only horse that’s managed to beat Cy Fair, will face off with that foe once again in Friday’s GIII Limestone Stakes at Keeneland.
The stakes-winning Steve Asmussen trainee was last seen finishing second in the Sept. 7 Untapable Stakes.
Johannes was trying to get Blame to play with him for a good 5 minutes before it finally worked 🤣
Watch until the end and keep in mind Blame is 20 years old (yes, 20 🤯)
@racing_dudes What you said as true. There are so many of us working to portray the good and positive in this industry and then you put everything 2 steps back with a post like that. It was a blatant spread of misinformation to a not always accurately informed platform.
@racing_dudes “To see if anyone knows details.” Sales records have always been public and a minimal amount of effort would have led you to that being a NG season. Instead, you perpetuated a negative image of the industry. Don’t pretend you didn’t see the responses of people who clearly took
@racing_dudes It costs little to nothing to do your due diligence before posting something like this online. It was a season. Unbelievably sad, this post needs to be deleted immediately. It’s wildly harmful to the industry as a whole
Now I don’t tweet much but this is an issue that deserves everyone’s attention. @Chilis taking the classic nacho, which was nothing short of perfection, off the menu is borderline criminal and very simply, one of the worst business deals of this century.
Timely update, as Newlyn (2yo colt by Munnings) breaks his maiden with ease going 8.5 furlongs on the turf at Aqueduct @TheNYRA!
He sells with us as Hip 4108 in the Keeneland HORA Sale next Wednesday ⭐️
