HEY EVERYONE REMEMBER WHEN TRUMP WAS IMPEACHED FOR DENYING AID TO UKRAINE BECAUSE HE WANTED ZELENSKY TO LIE AND SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT BIDEN AND ZELENKSY WOULDN’T DO IT?
Maybe literally one fucking American newspaper could mention this in their, “think pieces,” about what happened yesterday.
if you don't get philly you just won't ever get philly...most beautiful city in the world. sensational and mundane, frozen over and literally melting...hot as ice...it's the kind of city they wrote great literature about for hundreds of years. Paris of the west? no! it's Babylon.
@JohnPatLeary Thought you might like to know that some of your former/forever students brought in definitions of socialism from you/your book on their *you-can-bring-a-notecard-with-resources* notecard for their Chinese Civil Wars IB exam last week. NOT AI-generated!
How can we have informed conversations about our priorities without actual info about the conditions and capacity of our schools? There is benefit to hearing from community at all steps of the process, but convos without context or content feels like going through the motions.
Attended a barely-announced community meeting for the Facilities Planning Process today. My comments (made there in front of so many of the #phled twitter folks I follow! So nice to match faces with names!) continues to be - where is the data?
Back when we were in an earlier stage of an earlier process more data was available and we could compare schools and look at regional trends. Now we are at a later stage of the game, on an abbreviated timeline, and the comparative data just isn't there!
I need to add that I LOVE jury duty and the cross-section of the city gathered together for the civic duty of it all. I deeply relate to the folks in the intro video. #socialstudiesnerd
@MattRKay My fidgets bin salutes yours from across town. It’s been a post-pandemic must and very popular in the phone-free days of 2024! I know it’s working for the kids when students I don’t teach stop by before tests or presentations…
@butterweckb@newskag Hi! Bodine has had robotics too! But with EC cuts and ASAP cuts and the dissolution of part of the Philly Robotics coalition the program is currently not sustainable. Do you know how NEHS is maintaining funding when all of the other schools lost it?
The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.

The former 17-year-old-obsessed with Mrs. Dalloway in me agrees.
(Oh, and it is not the HS teachers, but rather the sliced, diced and boxed curricula that pushes novels out of the classroom.)
Barely acknowledges the sharp pivot from the BRAND NEW ELA curriculum’s emphasis on novels in favor of subpar shorter works! No perspective from the HS curriculum (other than that it’s a burden! which it is!) which is very different from the one discussed in the article!
So confused by this article! It seems like it is going to get into the deep dissatisfaction & valid frustrations many of us have w/ the new ELA curriculum, but comes off as a hype piece!

@itspeterbrown@Dreamworks We love your books! My 4-year-old saw the preview & didn't realize what it was until he saw Bright Bill for the first time. Then he starting shouting, IT'S ROZ!!! IT'S ROZ!!! We hope the movie can live up to the hype, but we're so very grateful for your books!
