However, I'm excited to announce that I've accepted a position with @ComoxValleySD71 at Mark R. Isfeld Secondary! I can't wait to meet the staff and students in Courtenay 😀
Feeling bittersweet about my last day at @north_delta Secondary. I'm so grateful for the incredible students I've worked with and the colleagues who have become friends! I've had 4 formative years with @deltasd37 and I've been grateful for every moment.
Teachers are also providing much needed historical and political context. And they are doubling down on media literacy practices amid the flood of misinformation online.
They are crafting new lessons to address the questions they know will arise.

What if our rubrics were wheels instead of linear progressions that give the impression of learning coming to an end? A colleague brought me this idea and I can’t stop thinking about it.
Prioritizing current events vs. the required curricula is a constant challenge for Social Studies teachers. More than ever, I'm wishing I had more time. I hate feeling like I'm "falling behind" as I prioritize learning about the Russo-Ukrainian conflict with my learners.
Instead of spending so much time thinking about how to grade a student who is struggling, let’s invest time thinking about how to lift that student. Teaching, not scoring, is the essence of our work.
Congrats to both our Jr. Girls and Jr. Boys team on winning their first league games! A great start to the league season and hopefully a sign of good things ahead for both teams. #Letsgohuskies
Congratulations to the @north_delta junior girls basketball team for a great first tournament this weekend!
All the girls hustled, were super coachable (my favourite!) and had positive attitudes the whole way through.
What a great start to our season! 🎉
I was observed by a student teacher this morning and my lesson didn't go according to plan.
I chose to explain my thinking process. I admitted where it went wrong, what my faults were in the planning process, and and how I would improve the lesson the next time I taught it.
It made me think. I realized it's important to model to new teachers that...
a) We're human - and we don't have it all figured out 🙃
b) Lessons can (and will!) go sideways - and that's ok!
c) We're learning from our students as much as they are learning from us.
Teaching through dominoes to learn how the assassination of Franz Ferdinand triggered a "chain reaction" or "domino effect," resulting in the start of WW1.
So fun! #bced
I just spent 75 minutes with the most wonderful group of Delta #sd37 educators. I am so so grateful for their energy and the gift of their time. Thank you for the invite @bmooreintheloop
