I so wish I could have joined the group…One of my favourite conferences but, alas, was not in the cards for me this year. Happy to see such strong group representing and supporting @IBM there!
Really nice to see IBM represented by IBMers and IBM Champions alike at JCON EUROPE. The ecosystem becomes stronger when people from different companies, communities, and backgrounds come together around Java.
Also very cool to see IBM Bob showing off Java capabilities and developer-focused innovation. Java keeps evolving, and it’s good to see IBM actively contributing to that journey together with the community.
We’re excited to announce the release of Eclipse OpenJ9 v0.59.0 🎉

Curious about OpenJ9 GC policies♻️? We’ve included a quick overview below with a deep-dive article coming soon. Stay tuned!
Sadly, I cannot be there this year, but JCON is definitely a premier event everyone should be trying to get to and make sure you chat with the IBM team that will be there!
Also, Cologne is an amazing city to visit!
Time flies when you’re connecting great people. 3 years already.
Being an IBM Champion was never about the badge for me. It’s about the conversations, the shared ideas, and building bridges between the IBM Java community and the wider Java ecosystem.
Looking back, it’s a lot of small moments. Meeting people at events. Spontaneous hallway chats. Turning “we should do something” into actual collaboration.
Next stop: JCON EUROPE ... IBM is joining as a Platinum sponsor and will be on site with some awesome folks. If you’re there, come by and check out the cool Java tech IBM has built.
We’re pleased to announce the availability of Eclipse OpenJ9 v0.58.0 which adds support for OpenJDK 26 🎉
