Did you know miniature horses can be seeing-eye animals? This month, ten of them visited the MSU VMC for free eye exams through the ACVO®/Epicur® Service Animal Eye Screening Event — one of 8,000+ exams given each year. We're proud to be part of it!
MGI's Rudolph Hugh Endowed Professor Sean Crosson gave a talk at this weekend's "Classes Without Quizzes" event entitled "Many Microbes, One Health: Bacteria at the interface of animal, plant, and human health."

MSU Veterinary Medicine leadership was in D.C. meeting with members of MI's delegation on priorities that strengthen the veterinary workforce: training, MSU’s new associate degree in veterinary nursing, USDA-supported disease surveillance through NAHLN, VMLRP, and student loans.
We are thrilled that the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine has been selected to host the 2028 @StudentAVMA Symposium! This will be the first time in over 40 years that our campus has hosted this event. A big thanks to @MSUSAVMA for their hard work on this winning proposal.💚🐾

Our North American river otter Miles recently received some world class dental care. At 13 years old, Miles is in his senior years for a river otter and he has started to shown signs of arthritis in right knee. The zoo veterinary and animal care team works closely together to monitor his comfort and health as he ages.
In particular, Miles had a tough winter due to his right arthritic knee. Veterinary staff elected to take Miles for a whole body CT scan to characterize the severity of his osteoarthritis in his knee and at this procedure, Miles was found to have an infected canine tooth.
With the help of Dr. Turner from Veterinary Dental Referral Services, who assisted on the case, the veterinary team worked together to remove the tooth. As part of Miles’ procedure, Dr. Valerie Johnson from MSU CVM administered otter stem cells to help treat his arthritic right knee.
This procedure also highlights the impact of our new Delta Dental of Michigan Animal Treatment Room, which allows our veterinary team to provide advanced care for animals like Miles right here at the zoo.
A huge thank you to Delta Dental of Michigan for supporting animal health at Potter Park Zoo, and to Dr. Turner from Veterinary Dental Referral
Services for donating her time and expertise to help care for Miles.
Miles is recovering well, and our team will continue to keep a close eye on him as he heals. 🦦
Meet Bobby, a baby donkey who received lifesaving care from the @msuvets team. After weeks of specialized treatment and lots of love from MSU veterinarians, this tiny foal is now back home and thriving.
Thanks to the generosity of some incredible Spartan friends, meeting our #GiveGreenDay goal will unlock a historic gift: one million dollars.
Thank you to all who have supported us—we are taking a huge step toward building our college of the future.
