I have no doubt that this question shall be decided solely in accordance with the wishes of the inhabitants of this province at the appropriate time. অর্থাৎ, স্কুল কলেজে বাংলায় বই পুস্তক পড়া হবে, প্রাদেশিক অফিশিয়াল ভাষা হিসেবে বাংলা প্রদেশে বাংলা ভাষা চলবে- এই কথাগুলো জিন্নাহ বলে গেছেন। এরপরে আর কোন "না, না" প্রতিবাদ নাই, শুধু হাত তালির আওয়াজ। ইউটিউবে সম্পূর্ণ বক্তৃতা শুনে নেবেন। প্রশ্ন উঠবে, স্টেট ল্যাংগুয়েজ উর্দু হবে কেন? উর্দু তো মাত্র ৪% লোকের মাতৃভাষা। সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠ ৫৬% জনগণ বাংলায় কথা বলে। মেজোরিটির ভাষাকে বাদ দিয়ে মাইনোরিটির ভাষাকে স্টেট ল্যাংগুয়েজ করার কারণ কি? কারণ হচ্ছে, বাংলা ভাষা অন্যান্য জাতির নিকট দুর্বোধ্য। পাকিস্তানে সেসময় ৫ টি প্রদেশ ছিল। সিন্ধু, পাঞ্জাব, খাইবার পাখতুনখাওয়া, বেলুচিস্তান আর বাংলা। সিন্ধিরা বেলুচ ভাষা বোঝে না। বেলুচিরা বাংলা বোঝে না। বাংগালীরা পাঞ্জাবী বোঝে না। পাঞ্জাবিরা সিন্ধি বোঝে না। এক জাতির ভাষা অন্য জাতির কাছে দুর্বোধ্য। বাংলাকে স্টেট ল্যাংগুয়েজ বানালে পাকিস্তানের বাকি অর্ধেক জনগোষ্ঠী দাপ্তরিক কাজকর্ম করতে পারতো না। পুরো পাকিস্তানকে একটা কমন ভাষার আন্ডারে ইউনাইটেড রাখার প্রয়োজন ছিল। সেসময় পাকিস্তানের সব প্রদেশের সকল মধ্যবিত্ত শ্রেণীর মানুষ উর্দু জানত। এখনও ভারত, পাকিস্তান, বাংলাদেশের বেশিরভাগ অঞ্চলের মানুষ উর্দু-হিন্দি ভাষা হালকা পাতলা বোঝে। গ্রামের অশিক্ষিত লোকটাও উর্দুতে- হিন্দিতে কথা বললে অল্প অল্প বুঝতে পারবে৷ ঠিক এই কারণে ভারতে অফিশিয়াল ল্যাংগুয়েজ হিন্দি। যদিও ভারতের মেজরিটি মানুষ কিন্তু হিন্দিভাষী নন। জিন্নাহর প্রস্তাবনা ছিল - এক প্রদেশ আরেক প্রদেশের সাথে উর্দুতে যোগাযোগ করবে, যেন আন্ত:প্রদেশ যোগাযোগ সহজ হয়, যেনো রাষ্ট্রীয় কাজগুলো ঠিকভাবে করা যায়। প্রাদেশিক ভাষা যার যার ইচ্ছে মতো চলবে। বাংলায় বাংলা চলবে, পাঞ্জাবে পাঞ্জাবী চলবে, সিন্ধুতে সিন্ধী চলবে। That's it. কিন্তু জিন্নাহর কাটপিস বক্তব্যকে আংশিক কোট করে অন্য অর্থ করে ফেলল৷। জিন্নাহর বক্তব্যে বাংলাকে নাকি অসম্মান করা হয়েছে। ওরা নাকি বাঙ্গালীদের মুখের ভাষা কেড়ে নিতে চায় !!! ইত্যাদি। স্পষ্ট মিথ্যাচার। জিন্নাহর সিদ্ধান্তটি হয়তো ভুল ছিল। ভারত, পাকিস্তানের মত বহু জাতি, বহু ভাষা, বহু সংস্কৃতির দেশে লিঙ্গুয়া ফ্রাংকা হিসেবে ইংলিশকে স্টেট ল্যাংগুয়েজ করা উচিত ছিল। কিন্তু "তিনি বাঙালীদের ওপর অত্যাচার নির্যাতন করতে পাকিস্তানীদের মাতৃভাষা উর্দুকে চাপিয়ে দেয়ার চেষ্টা করেছিলেন"- এই অভিযোগটি একেবারে মিথ্যা। কারণঃ- ১) জিন্নাহর মাতৃভাষা গুজরাটি। উর্দু নয়। ২) শাসকগোষ্ঠীর মাতৃভাষা পাঞ্জাবী। উর্দু নয়। ৩) অধিকাংশ পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানী জনগণের মাতৃভাষা সিন্ধি, বেলুচি, পাঞ্জাবি, পশতুন ইত্যাদি। উর্দু নয়। ৪) সম্পূর্ণ বক্তৃতায় জিন্নাহ বাংলা ভাষাকে অফিশিয়াল ল্যাংগুয়েজ করার কথা বলেছিলেন। এসব বিষয় জিন্নাহ বিরোধী প্রোপাগান্ডায় গোপন রাখা হয়। দশকের পর দশক ধরে মিথ্যা আওয়ামী প্রোপাগান্ডায় তাকে ভিলেন বানিয়ে রাখা হয়েছে।
