If you went through a situation like that then why would you dedicate *the rest of your career* to publicly shaming women with way worse stories—calling them liars and political opportunists—in the service of granting predatory men even more control over women’s bodies and rights
This has dramatically reduced how much weight I’m giving her Platner accusations from “a lot” to “nearly none.”
It strains credulity that some longtime GOP operative in NoVa really thinks the NYT duped her to *aid Platner*, doesn’t know how factcheck works, etc.
But it’s perfectly calibrated for a partisan conservative audience and to raise her own standing.
Like I’m sorry but your best friend is Bethany Mandel, you worked in DC, you live in blue northern Virginia right now—you’re an establishment Republican, in other words, but you really can’t discern that a NYT reporter who has a history of Zionist activism *probably* isn’t in Platner’s corner? Or that the NYT in general isn’t exactly boosting him?
I don’t believe for one second this kind of experienced political professional can’t discern between the populist left and the establishment liberals. Just like anyone on the other side can distinguish between establishment Republicans and right-populist MAGA.
I also don’t believe that she would be this naive about the factchecking process and see it as surprising, let alone a setup. She presents herself as this wilting Christian mom naïf, taken for a ride by the big bad liberal NYT.
That’s just not the story of someone from her background with her experience who’s telling an honest narrative, but it is the story of someone who’s doing this whole thing in a calculated way to advance a political and professional agenda. Sorry but this just tanked her credibility in my eyes.
The NYT interviewed half a dozen other ex girlfriends who've seen Platner with his shirt off, and none of them confirmed the story by Fifield about the tattoo other than the cofounder of "Ladies for Kavanaugh," who texted in August that she'd "personally go campaign for Collins"?
And now there's a complaint about DC's culture for woman...from someone who was literally paid to do character assassination on Christine Blasey Ford in order to confirm the man who overturned Roe v. Wade.
There genuinely doesn't seem to be an iota of good faith to this.
IF YOU THINK BEEF PRICES ARE HIGH NOW, IMAGINE WHAT THEY WILL BE AFTER FLESH EATING MAGGOTS WIPE OUT A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF THE REMAINING US CATTLE SUPPLY
WE NEED A NATIONAL EMERGENCY DECLARATION ON NEW WORLD SCREWWORM NOW, WE ARE TIRED OF WAITING FOR COMPETENT ACTION
Ok now she’s claiming she had corroboration she gave to the NYT that they just…chose not to include in the story
Either the Times thought her sources were so unreliable they didn’t bother including them or she made this up to force him out of the race and is mad it didn’t work
Do y’all get what is happening? If abdul wins this primary, they will work to take him down like they are doing to Graham platner. They hate the left more than they do republicans
Girl STFU.
That man still made it in the supreme court and still voted to force women to have their rapists’ baby,
I’m going go fuck around and donate to his campaign. His job in the general is to beat the brakes off of a Republican Woman who betrayed ALL WOMEN by being a Republican Woman.
Get this nonsense off my feed.
I’m not saying Graham Platner should or shouldn’t be a candidate for a Senate seat, but I am saying that the media’s treatment of Platner as compared to its treatment of Ken Paxton is the same as the media’s treatment of Joe Biden as compared to its treatment of Donald Trump. The media bolsters the MAGA narrative that there’s never a decent Democrat nor an indecent MAGA Republican.
I think one thing the professional Dem operatives who’ve been agitating against Platner should perhaps consider is that all the actually-bad rumors were sole-sourced to this woman, who told them what they wanted to hear: that he’s a violent toxic leftist bro.
@chicagobeers1@royermattw So you agree that we're not doing enough about mental health for returning soldiers, and he would be a great advocate for that in the senate?
