@agairnst He reached for the water bottle and twisted the cap open for Kagami before settling his hand back on the wheel and starting to drive again. When the piece of bread was held out to him, he simply opened his mouth and took a bite, chewing as he kept his eyes on the road.
@agairnst … soft bread.
これ ください” He pointed at one of the trays before adding another. “And that one too.”
Once the order was packed, he carried the bag back to the car and placed it within reach. “Here. Eat first, チビくん. Or want me to feed you like I did when you were a kid?”
@agairnst “Soft bread? Okay. I know a good place nearby.”
He changed lanes, taking the next turn toward a quieter street. A few minutes later, they pulled up in front of a small bakery. Kai parked the car and headed inside, scanning the display before ordering a few different kinds of …
@agairnst “Yeah, that. Niichan.” He kept his eyes on the road, but a smile still lingered on his face. “Are you sure you’re not hungry? Tell me what you feel like eating. We’ll get that first.”
@agairnst Kai laughed when he heard that familiar “niichan” again, a grin spreading across his face. “Feels like it’s been forever since you called me that.”
He started the car and eased away from the curb, one hand resting on the wheel.
“Shaved ice sounds good, but have you eaten yet?”
He leaned back in his seat, watching @agairnst get into the car. “Been a while, チビくん,” he said, reaching over to ruffle Kagami’s hair. “So where are we going?”
@agairnst Kai lowered the window as soon as he saw Kagami tapping against the glass, a faint smile already tugging at the corner of his lips. He reached over and unlocked the passenger door.
“Get in.”
… time on his phone. He had spent enough time here. “じゃ、俺は行くね。”
The manager looked up at him. “もう帰るんですか?”
“うん。別の用事があるから。”
A small smile appeared on Kai’s face as he slipped his phone into his pocket. There was someone else waiting for him.
