II have so many feelings about disability in SFF but all of it boils down to: we need more. So much more.
So many disabled folk like myself see SFF novels as an absolute lifeline. It's like having wings, the perfect escape, but we want to be able to live there as ourselves, too
Hi friends, I've not been around here much for weeks and so I think it's time to go on a proper Twitter hiatus. I'm in a flare of a new chronic illness I haven't started treatment for yet & life is just getting on top of me. I need to slow down and take some time for self care.
I'm going to miss everyone here so much but I will be back when I'm feeling in a better place!
I will be on the blog and insta a little bit, so if you want to connect with me there, you can find me /@m.t.wilsonwrites on Instagram and over on wordpress at https://t.co/kldrIAppFz
Trying to write and be inspired through all of this, and berating myself for not doing more, has probably just made me even more stressed. I need to accept that I can't do all the things I want to do right now, and that's okay. I need to give myself space to breathe.
the most important writing tip i can give you? CHECK THE GRAMMAR YOU USE WITH YOUR DIALOGUE. so many writers get this wrong (a lot) and just... knowing it really helps. this graphic is a great resource and i share it a lot because it's so helpfulโknow when to do what!
@chamomeriam Yes!! One of the main characters in #RainWIP wears glasses. He invested in high tech, durable glasses after breaking several pairs of spectacles on thieving missions but still wears his ordinary black frames round the house.
So happy to reveal the cover for LAST OF THE TALONS! @_ashmackenzie has done a brilliant job of bringing Shin Lina to life. Coming 09/27/22. P.S - Exclusive snippet on Paste Magazine!

Y'all have no idea how hard it's been for me sitting on this news! But I finally get to tell the world that my little disabled monster-hunter book is gonna be on shelves. I can't wait for everyone to meet these characters I've fallen in love with - I hope you will too.
One aspect of chronic illness that people don't see is compromise. You're constantly trying to figure out what kind of life you can lead, that will bring you joy without making you feel too sick. That's really hard to do and it comes with a lot of grief, frustration and sadness.
Because it's Lyme Disease Awareness month, Iโm going to walk you through what itโs been like for me, since most people donโt really know what it means - including symptoms. A ๐งต-
I wrote some actual words for #RainWIP ๐ญ I've not written for months, and now I have my first few paragraphs. ๐ฅบ The last months have been really rough, but finally getting some words down on paper, that makes me feel hopeful again.
