I had a telephone conversation with United States Secretary of State @marcorubio on Tuesday evening on several issues of mutual interest, namely trade, regional and international peace and security.

We discussed the need for the US government to support the renewal of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which is a comprehensive framework between America and Africa. Further, we agreed on the necessity of greater engagement of the US Department of Commerce in facilitation growth of trade with Africa.

I thanked President @realDonaldTrump for appointing Mr Massad Boulos as Special Envoy to the Great Lakes region, a move that signals a strong US government commitment to Africa's regional stability, peace initiatives and resolution of conflicts.

Secretary Rubio and I also discussed the situation in Haiti. He reaffirmed the strong US support for the Kenya-led effort to stabilise Haiti. In this regard, I welcome his support for the effort to secure sustainable UN support for the Multi-National Security Support Mission.

On the peace and security situation in our region, Secretary Rubio thanked Kenya for the leadership role it is playing in the search for peace and resolution of conflicts.

In this regard, I briefed him on the Joint Summit of Heads of State of the EAC-SADC on the DRC peace initiative, held on Monday; on Kenya's role in providing forum for the engagement of diverse Sudanese actors to engage in an effort to restore civilian governance, and also our efforts with other partners including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in engaging the combatants on the need for dialogue and silencing the guns.

In South Sudan, I updated the Secretary of State of the current situation and the initiatives we are engaged in to encourage the government and opposition to re-engage, de-escalate violence and rededicate themselves to the search for peace.

I also briefed Secretary Rubio on escalating terrorist activities in Somalia and the necessity for our two countries to work together in confronting this threat to our interests as well as to international peace and security.

NLP rejected the bribe.

The person derailing and frustrating the reconstitution of IEBC is none other than Kalonzo Musyoka!

The Azimio One Kenya Alliance, as a minority coalition, held elections, and Dr. Augustus Muli was elected with 16 votes! However, Kalonzo Musyoka wanted to replace Augustus with Koki Muli, who garnered only 7 votes.

Under the Political Parties Liaison Committee (PPLC), the majority coalition, the minority coalition, and the non-parliamentary parties were to pick a nominee each. Mr. Evans Misati was elected to represent non-parliamentary parties, while Mr. Nicodemus Bore was picked to represent the majority party. For the minority coalition, Dr. Muli of the National Liberal Party (NLP) was voted in, defeating Wiper's Ambassador Koki Muli in an election that was presided over by the IEBC.

Clearly, it's Kalonzo Musyoka sabotaging the reconstitution of IEBC.

Obviously, I didn't agree with Sen. Murkomen when he said that President William Ruto's is solely criticised because of his "Kalenjin ethnicity." The more plausible and sophisticated thesis/argument he should have advanced is that the refrain "... must go" is only applied to Kalenjin Presidents and never to Kikuyu Presidents..."Moi Must Go...Ruto Must Go" sounds smooth on the tongue, we are made to believe...We never heard "Kibaki Must Go...Uhuru Must Go"... This political phenomenon of "rushing" Kalenjin Presidents is historically explainable. Kalenjin Presidents, as they always succeed, Kikuyu Presidents are seen as "transient, accidental, unplanned, game of chance, passing clouds, one term, etc." Whereas Kikuyu presidents are seen as 'natural, merited, normal, as of right, inevitable, haki yetu...etc." The days of Kalenjin Presidents are impatiently counted to end while those of Kikuyu Presidents are left to run according to legal instruments.
