President Hassan Sheekh Mohamoud of Somalia has arrived in Las Anod (the town that threw out Somaliland’s oppressive clan militia) and received a massive, jubilant welcome. No further proof is needed that Somaliland is a single-clan entity seeking world recognition for a territory a large part of which is well outside its dominion. What insanity!

My opinion as non-Somali, but long-term observer of Somali issues: If you are serious about Somali unity (regardless of which clan you belong to), you should welcome the visit of PM Hamze in Lasanod. Dhulbahante have opposed SL secession for 3 decades. They have paid a high price for it. A highranking member of the admin in Mogadishu visiting the place where Somali unity was defended many times is just the right sign now.
